The vehicle in these photos is a Ford Ranger pick-up with a hard top to enclose the cargo bed. It is an L1 H1 double cab model. Fitting a hard top increases carrying capacity with respect to a plain, open pick-up. Nevertheless, being a pick-up, the Ranger has a completely different and much lower cargo bed than a typical van.
The cargo bed can be accessed through three generous doors, two on the sides and one at the rear. With the tailgate folded down, this offers unrestricted access to the space inside. The Syncro team designed a fully bespoke racking solution for this electrician-owned Ford Ranger, even finding ways to allow part of the cargo to be accessed through the side windows. Let’s take a look inside.
Not just vans but even pick-ups can be equipped with interior liners, at least in part. This Ford Ranger is fitted with a floor liner made of marble-look plywood, with a stainless-steel edge protector at the rear. The liner not only reinforces the original floor but also provides effective protection against dents, scratches and liquid spillages. The material consists of layers of wood pressed and bonded together with non-hygroscopic resins. The metal protector stops water and dirt penetrating the exposed edge of the liner and affords users an enhanced grip when climbing into and out of the vehicle.
What was the aim of this Ford Ranger transformation? To transform the vehicle into a mobile workshop for an electrician, providing a work area and storage for all the necessary tools, equipment, spares, sundries and consumables in a relatively limited space.
How can you get all this into a pick-up? By exploiting every inch of space. This clever configuration was designed thanks to a good dose of insight and the expertise gained by Syncro racking technicians in over 20 years of work. The top-quality, super-strong products used can be combined in an infinity of ways.
It’s amazing to see how the right combination of Syncro racking and accessories has transformed the left side of this Ford Ranger. We can see:
Practical access! The top two levels of the racking can even be accessed from the outside, through the door on the left of the hard top!
The racking on the right of the electrician’s Ford Ranger L1 H1 repeats some of the same elements seen on the left, like three metal case trays and a floor-level compartment with a lift-and-rotate door. In the remaining space is a small open shelf with three removable plastic containers and a large configurable shelf.
While the containers are accessible only from inside the vehicle, the shelf at the top can be reached from outside the vehicle. Finally, we have a second shelf with five removable containers that can be accessed from inside the vehicle or from the outside through the door on the right. The picture is completed by a cable holder attached to the racking side panel.
To secure other, perhaps bulkier items, on board this Ford Ranger pick-up, Syncro System has installed a section of Syncroblock slider bar on the bulkhead behind the passenger cabin.
This extremely versatile accessory can be used in conjunction with hooks and straps as in this case, or with many other cargo retaining accessories like movable telescopic hooks, cable holders and universal clamps.
