A special solution for a mountain rescue service

United by a mission: to help others!

Mountain Rescue volunteers are trained to help people who find themselves in difficulty in challenging environments like mountains or caves. Their mission? To help others with competence and professionalism.

The work may be different, but helping customers with competence and professionalism is also the goal that Syncro System pursues every day.

In this case, the customer was a Mountain and Cave Rescue team who asked Syncro to improve the functionality and efficiency of the vehicle they use for their interventions.

Transformation of a pickup for a mountain rescue team

The pickup in the photos above is a Mitsubishi L200 operated by Longarone, one of the 19 teams in the 2nd Belluno Dolomites section of the Veneto division of the National Mountain and Cave Rescue Service.

The limitations typical of pickup bodies made it necessary to design a tailor-made racking solution. Because of the limited body height, climbing inside is awkward, making it difficult to reach objects stored towards the front of the vehicle.

This problem was effectively solved by the two Syncro System solutions installed in this pickup for mountain rescue, which utilise the full length of the cargo compartment and provide easy access to the rescuers.

  • On the left we have a long drawer which occupies the entire length of the loadspace and is extends fully, permitting easy access without having to climb inside. The recessed front handle incorporates an automatic retaining mechanism that holds the drawer closed. The inside of the drawer is equipped with a non-slip mat. It can also be fitted with space dividers to create separate compartments or left as it is for maximum capacity.
  • On the right we can see an aluminium slide with a top in marble-look plywood that extends on ball bearing runners. The frame of the slide is fixed to the floor underneath. A gentle pull is all that is needed to extend the slide once the button on the front handle has been pressed. The slide can be locked in various positions between fully closed and fully open and can carry a load of up to 200 kg.

Two rails with Airline holes have been installed on top of both the drawer and the slide. Used in conjunction with hooks and lashing straps, these allow fast and efficient loading and unloading and enable the rescuers to carry all kinds of material safely.
