Plenty of drawers in a Peugeot Expert equipped by Syncro

PEUGEOT’S MEDIUM SIZE VAN

The Expert is a medium van that comes between the Boxer and the Partner in the Peugeot range. First launched in 1996, the Expert proved an immediate success with customers on the lookout for an agile, practical van of reasonable size but with a generous load capacity for its external dimensions. The Expert has remained a top seller with the introduction of new series in 2007 and 2016.

PLENTY OF ROOM IN THE EXPERT’S LOAD COMPARTMENT

This page illustrates a racking system installed in a 2016 Series Peugeot Expert. In it, Syncro’s installers have created a configuration that leaves ample free floor space without limiting the possibility of carrying a large number of components and tools in a practical and secure manner. The first step in the design of any new van racking system is to protect the metal panels of the floor and walls. Like any other van, the Expert comes without any interior protection capable of safeguarding body panels against the kind of damage caused by normal loading and unloading operations. In this case, the Syncro team have installed a floor liner in 12 mm thick resinated plywood, complete with non-slip steel edging and flush housings for the floor anchors. The liner provides a floor surface that is perfectly flat and far more resistant than the original floor too. The side walls and the doors are well protected – and not just at the bottom – by painted sheet metal panels laser-cut to exactly the right size and shape for the van’s body. Moving on to the racking as such, on the left we can see a shelving unit supported by two wheel arch cabinets, one with a lift and rotate door that provides full-height access to the compartment inside and the other with an automatic system for securing tool cases. Further up we find a pull-out vice support with provision for fitting the customer’s own vice. Further up again we can see two due drawer units containing five large drawers and two trays for carrying four component cases complete with plastic containers. The top of the racking on this side consists of two shelves with non-slip mats and aluminium dividers. To allow the customer to carry bulky equipment on the floor, the racking on the right side stands on an aluminium frame at the bottom. This supports three cabinets of transparent drawers. This type of storage is ideal for transporting large numbers of small parts. Transparent plastic drawers provide a clear view over the contents inside. They are fitted with automatic locks to hold them closed, and can be easily be removed and taken to the stores or to the place of work. These drawers are made from PMMA, the same ultra-tough, UVA and chemical resistant material used to make aircraft and submarine windows. The Syncro catalogue contains a large number of accessories designed to make working in your van safer and more efficient. The user of this particular Expert chose to install a 10 litre handwash canister with tap, a paper roll holder in steel sheet, two rails with straps for securing cargo and a powerful LED ceiling light that provides excellent lighting for the whole of the load compartment but consumes only 10 Watts.

EXPLOITING SPACE ON THE EXPERT’S ROOF WITH A SYNCRO ROOF RACK

Finally, to make full use of space on the van’s roof, here is a roof rack with side fences and a rear roller for easy loading and unloading of material. The special aerodynamic shape of the cross bars makes this roof rack extremely silent even at high speeds. A rubber profile on the top of the bars protects objects against scratching. Made from steel and aluminium, two extremely resistant but lightweight materials, this roof rack lets the user carry a great deal of material on the van’s roof, freeing up even more space inside the load compartment.
