The Fiat Fiorino in the photos on this page is a great example of how racking solutions can be designed to meet individual needs. This 2007 model year van with a sliding door is owned by a cleaning business.
The customer’s requirements, as expressed to Syncro System, were:
- to have plenty of free space in the centre of the van for carrying floor polishing machines and other items of professional cleaning equipment;
- to have plenty of containers for detergents and consumables like sponges, and for spare parts;
- to have a practical way of transporting long items with long handles, like brushes and mops.
Let’s take a look at the racking solution devised and installed by Syncro in this cleaning firm’s Fiorino.
Custom-made liners for the Fiorino, from Syncro
Protection first and foremost! Every van needs bodywork protection in the form of floor liners and door and wall lining panels to withstand the wear and tear of daily use and avoid the scratches and dents caused by heavy items sliding around inside.
The owner of this Fiorino chose a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface. This type of liner stands out from others on the market for its stainless-steel edge profiles and anchor ring cups, which provide the plywood beneath with complete protection against damp. And this is not all. The laying method is unique to Syncro too, as it involves the use of spacers in all the recesses in the floor to provide completely uniform support for the liner. The van’s walls and doors have been protected by steel panels, the best solution when maximum strength is needed!
Making the most of space in the Fiorino with Syncro racking
The left side of the Fiat Fiorino has been fitted with all the racking and containers needed to keep the van perfectly tidy.
- The space over the wheel arch has been turned into a bench for carrying large bottles and cans of detergent, thanks to the addition of a specially shaped compartment at floor-level with a plywood work top and a hook and strap lashing system on the wall behind.
- An indispensable paper roll holder is installed just under the roof where it is easily accessible, given the compact dimensions of the van.
- The remainder of the wall is equipped with a full-height column of racking, consisting of an open floor-level compartment with lashing straps and a configurable shelf with a non-slip mat, internal space dividers and a raised back panel. Two rows of large transparent containers, tilting and pull-out, four in total, exploit the remaining space under the roof.
A real custom solution: an under-roof brush rack!
All Syncro System racking solutions have at least one unique feature combined with the rest of the racking. In this case a custom-made “mop rack” has been created under the roof by fitting a length of Syncroblock slider bar with Prax hooks.
A sheet metal profile with holes in it runs across the roof at the bulkhead to support the other end of the brush and mop handles. Support at both ends means that these long items can be transported safely and securely without cluttering up the load compartment.
An infinity of solutions, from Syncro
Syncro System racking and accessories can be arranged and installed in an infinite number of ways. This Fiat Fiorino, for example, could also have been fitted with long, under-floor drawers and a raised floor strong enough to support additional racking and provide a walkable surface.
