Japan’s Nissan has operated within the orbit of the Renault Group for many years now and has long shared the French company’s commercial vehicle range.
Nissan’s latest offering, the large NV400, is therefore virtually identical to the Renault Master and Opel Movano.
The NV400 is the latest entry to the large van market and boasts an excellent chassis and engine along with a cargo capacity and equipment that rivals the best.
The van illustrated in these photos is a short wheelbase, low roof version with floor and bodywork liners and a simple racking solution.
Let’s start from the beginning. As always with Syncro van conversions, the installers began by fitting a
floor liner, in this case in non-slip, marble-look, resin-bonded plywood – a light, tough and long-lasting material. This type of liner comes complete with steel anchor rings recessed in metal cups and metal edging at all the doors.
Syncro floor liners not only protect the original floor but also serve as a perfectly flat, walkable surface and as a solid base for racking.
The NV400’s interior was then protected with laser-cut protective
panels in galvanised and painted steel, replacing and integrating the original protection.
The van’s rear bumper was also covered with aluminium tread plate and the bulkhead protected by a marble-look plywood liner.
The left side racking comprises one floor-level compartment with a door and a second with a
strap-type retaining system for the customer’s tool cases.
Above these is a
shelf with a door, a tray with two removable, metal component cases, two
drawers with telescopic, ball-bearing runners, and a configurable shelf with internal space dividers. The column nearer to the cab houses four
shelves with a total of 18 plastic containers. At the top is a full-length tray with a folding door at the rear for long objects like posts, pipes and cable channels.
The racking is complemented by a
fold-away bench with a steel vice, one of Syncro’s premium products, a paper roll holder, an
aluminium bar with a lashing strap and sliding fittings, another bar with movable hooks, two steel cabinets of transparent containers, a spray can rack and a pair of LED ceiling lights for illuminating the interior.
