Peugeot Partner for heating and plumbing service

PEUGEOT PARTNER: THE MULTISPACE VAN

Along with its twin, the Citroen Berlingo, the Peugeot Partner has always been a leader in the multispace van segment. Its generous body, elegantly connected to a compact cab, makes it ideal as a small commercial vehicle and as a spacious passenger car. When the first series was launched in 1996, it revolutionised the market and forced other manufacturers to follow suit and produce similar vehicles in order to compete. The second series Partner appeared in 2008 and maintained the same overall layout. Like the first, the second series proved a commercial success. The latest Partner is an ultra—modern, versatile and robust vehicle. The van version in particular is ideal for carrying goods and for conversion as a mobile workshop.

CONVERTING THE PARTNER INTO A SMALL BUT EFFICIENT WORKSHOP ON WHEELS

The firm that operates the Partner illustrated on this page installs and services heating and plumbing systems, a job that has to be done entirely at the customer’s home or premises and that therefor needs a van equipped with everything necessary for efficiency and productivity under all conditions. The first step in the conversion of this particular Partner consisted of the installation of interior linings to stop cargo hitting and damaging the bodywork while the van is being loaded or driven to its destination. The Syncro team fitted a birch plywood floor liner with a marble look surface: lightweight, robust, easy to keep clean and non-slip. The walls and doors were then protected with painted steel lining panels, laser-cut to match the shape of the bodywork. The bulkhead between the cargo space and the cab was lined with a plywood panel at the bottom, while the perforated section at the top was closed off with a custom-made panel in honeycomb plastic. The left side racking stands on a wheel arch cabinet with a rail and strap system for retaining the customer’s tool cases. Above this is a pull-out vice bench, complete with a 125 mm steel vice on a rotating base. A vice is an essential item of equipment in this line of work, and this pull-out version can be ready for use in an instant. Over the vice bench, Syncro’s technicians arranged two drawer cabinets containing four large metal drawers with telescopic runners, recessed handles and an automatic system for holding them shut. Further up again we find a set of shelves with non-slip mats and space dividers, arranged to follow the shape of the Partner’s body and to optimise space. On the right of the van, Syncro’s installers fitted a wheel arch cabinet with a fully opening lift-and-rotate door, a patented Syncro System idea that gives easy access to the inside of the cabinet. Above this are three metal cabinets with removable, transparent containers, also in different depths to follow the profile of the van’s side wall. Syncro’s transparent containers let you see immediately what is inside, and are made from top quality plastic (like that used in aeroplane and submarine windows). Exclusive design solutions guarantee functionality and strength. The operator of this Partner also chose to install a number of accessories to increase the functionality of this mobile workshop for heating and plumbing systems. On the left we can see a multi-purpose metal box and an aluminium rack for silicone tubes. The bulkhead is fitted with two rail and strap systems for securing cargo. A powerful but compact LED ceiling light ensures excellent visibility inside the cargo space. To exploit the roof of the van, Syncro fitted two cross-bars with load stops. These incorporate Syncro’s exclusive Ultrasilent profiles, the latest solution for eliminating noise and vibration on the road. So once again the Syncro System team, working with the customer, has found a way convert a bare van into a perfectly equipped mobile workshop for the job in hand!
