The Volkswagen Transporter has for many years been one of the most valuable commercial vehicles on the market worldwide. The first model was launched in long ago, 1950, and today's model, the fifth generation Transporter, is simple yet rugged and versatile, with lots of cargo space that lends itself well to upfits using Syncro System's racking units and components.
On this page, you can see an example of the Transporter long wheelbase upfit with interior protection panels, shelving units on the left hand side, and aluminum vertical cargo bars.
Let's take it one step at a time: when you upfit a van for use by craftsmen, maintenance workers or builders, the first step is adequately protecting the inside of the cargo area from bangs and dents. To do this, we installed a plywood floor panel, precision-cut to size and pre-coated galvanized steel paneling.
The
floor panel mounted in this VW Transporter is durable coated plywood complete with recessed stainless steel anchorage points, designed to lock down cargo using cables or straps.
The
interior protection panels positioned on the left and right sides, as well as the back and side doors, are made of pre-coated laser-cut, galvanized steel, giving your van an extremely professional look. The bulkhead is protected by a durable 12 mm plywood panel.
The racking modules on this Transporter were mounted only on the left side of the vehicle, leaving the remaining space free for the transportation of materials, equipment, and tools.
The base of the racking system is composed of two
wheel arch frames: the one closer to the back doors is complete with aluminum front-hinged door and lock and key set. The other is open and is completed with carrying case storage and blocking system. Above the base frames, we mounted a drawer unit with a total of eight metallic drawers of varying sizes, all complete with automatic locking mechanisms and ball bearing glides.
The larger of the drawer units houses a pull-out storage tray with two
metal portable utility cases – complete with internal plastic containers.
Above the two drawer units, there is a
shelving unit with two shelves – each one containing metal dividers and non-slip rubber mats.
Installation and maintenance workers often have to transport long objects like tubes and pipes. In this upfit, the ideal solution (seen at the very top of the racking components) is a long tray with raised sides and end closing flap, made specifically to securely transport these types of materials.
Last, but certainly not least, are the
vertical cargo bars, fastened to tracks mounted to the floor panel and ceiling of the van. Thanks to these poles, securing cargo in the back of your van is easy and fast!
