The
Fiorino from the Fiat automotive company is a commercial vehicle with unique characteristics: while it is a compact van, it still manages to boast an ample size cargo space, flat load floor, double back doors, and optional side door.
We're talking about a commercial vehicle that can easily maneuver through city streets, without sacrificing the convenience of real van size.
It's not only the outside that is small; Fiat also keeps prices small - both the original cost of the vehicle and running costs are both highly competitive. The Natural Power model CNG is yet a further step toward enormous savings. Fiat engineers have very successfully adapted the Fiorino to a methane-powered vehicle, although the compromises include reduced autonomy and somewhat reduced cargo space due to the added methane cylinders.
Of course, the upfit components for the Fiorino by Syncro System are all completely adaptable to the CNG model; to maximize the reduced cargo space, Syncro System has come up with some resourceful solutions: in particular, a raised floor panel, either wooden or aluminum, creating space below for a practical
sub-floorboard drawer unit.
Seen on this page is an example of the
mobile workshop installed on the Fiorino CNG.
The first step in all upfits is the protection of the interior cargo space: for this upfit, we mounted the specific Fiorino CNG raised, 12mm, resin-coated, plywood
floor panel. It is complete with steel borders along the lengths corresponding to the van's doors. The plywood is both lightweight and extremely durable – and thanks to its non-slip surface, it is also creates the ideal base for the racking units, as well as ensuring safe loading and unloading.
The bulkhead and the internal walls and doors are protected by remarkably durable 2 + 1.8 chequered plate
aluminum paneling. From the open side door, you can see the drawer unit mounted under the floor panel.
On the left-hand side, we installed a
wheel arch frame with a vertically opening front door panel. Inside is valuable storage space for materials and equipment.
To the end panel of the left side racking unit, we added a pull-out
worktop / vice mount with a forged steel vise complete with swivel base and pipe jaws. Above the wheel arch frame is situated a large
drawer unit with three large steel drawers, all sliding out smoothly on ball-bearing glides and all equipped with automatic locking mechanisms. At the top of the racking unit is a
shelf with dividers – shorter in length, keeping in line with the dimensions of the cargo area itself.
The upfit on right-hand side consists of a small base frame with a locking, forward-tilting front panel. Above this are two steel drawers and a shelf complete with rubber mat and dividers.
In the Syncro catalog, there are endless ingenious accessories to make all aspects of working from and on your van easier, safer, and more productive. For this Fiat Fiorino, our client chose the
hand-washing kit complete with water jug with spout and soap dispenser, as well as the paper towel roll holder. Mounted to the bulkhead, there is an
aluminum track with straps to secure materials and equipment. The
lighting on the van is provided by a powerful LED ceiling light, mounted above the rear doors.
Even the space on the roof of the Fiorino has been used, thanks to the patented
Syncro System Ultrasilent roof rack, made completely in steel and aluminum, aerodynamically designed, and with side rails, and stainless steel rear rolling bar for easy loading and unloading.
Because this van operates on road construction sites, we also added a road sign, complete with LED warning lights.
