A Man TGE L3 H3 for a photovoltaic energy service

The energy transition is the driving force behind various new ways of generating power as well as developments in energy systems, components and maintenance requirements. All this has had an inevitable impact on the daily work of energy system installers and maintenance engineers.

Their jobs have become more complicated and, above all, every minute now counts. To make the most of their time, today’s energy professionals need rationally equipped mobile workshops.

On this page we explore a Syncro System racking solution in a Man TGE L3 H3 owned by a firm that installs and services photovoltaic and wind power systems. This model of van is perfect for use as a mobile workshop. The length of its cargo compartment (over 3.6 meters) affords plenty of scope for imagination in the design of racking systems while the height (2.59 meters) allows you to stand up straight and work comfortably inside.

How space is organised in the energy service’s Man TGE

The owner of this van asked Syncro to install enough storage to keep all his tools and spares tidy while leaving enough free space in the van to carry bulky parts and equipment. The result is a Man TGE mobile workshop in which the left wall is only partially occupied by racking, the right wall (other than the side door) is entirely covered with racking and all remaining surfaces are equipped with cargo retention accessories.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Syncro team satisfied the customer’s requests!

A complete set of liners for the Man TGE

Let’s start with the interior liners. These allow the vehicle to enjoy a long working life, facilitate cleaning and provide solid attachment points for racking and accessories.

The floor of this Man TGE is covered with a marble-look plywood floor liner with protective steel edging at the doors. The rear bumper is protected by panels of aluminium tread plate. The bulkhead is covered with marble-look plywood, and Peraluman aluminium panelling protects the sides of the van. Even the wheel arches are enclosed by a combination of marble-look plywood and aluminium.

There’s room for everything on the left of the Man TGE!

There really is room for everything on the left of this Man TGE for a photovoltaic and wind energy service. The wall can be divided into two parts.

The rear section is equipped only with cargo retaining accessories while the forward section is occupied by a range of storage elements.

The rear (accessories) section. A Syncroblock bar with two cable holders has been installed at the top of this area. Parallel but further down is an aluminium bar with two hook and strap retaining systems. In the corner near the rear door is a fire extinguisher bracket.

The forward (storage) section. This section is occupied by a floor-level compartment, partly enclosed a bottom profile, ten metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal space dividers, two configurable shelves equipped in the same way, an open shelf carrying removable plastic containers and, under the roof, a full-length top tray with an access door at the rear.

The right of the Man TGE: a vice bench lets you work wherever you are!

The right wall of this Man TGE is entirely occupied by racking which, however, does not extend all the way up to the roof. The top shelf is therefore low enough to carry even bulky items of cargo. A paper roll holder has also been installed on this side. The racking starts with a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door. Above this are three configurable shelves, the first of which is partly enclosed by a patented lift-and-rotate door. To carry small items there are 18 pull-out transparent containers in MultiBox drawer cabinets.

Between the floor-level compartment and the bottom shelf, Syncro has installed a very handy pull-out bench, complete with vice and protective panel. This accessory takes up very little space when closed, with only the vice protruding from the racking. A multi-purpose metal pocket has been added underneath.

Finally… the bulkhead: a great resource if properly equipped

Never forget the bulkhead! This part of the van is often overlooked but is actually extremely useful for carrying bulky cargo and keeping the interior of your van tidy.

The bulkhead of this Man TGE features a Syncroblock bar and two cable holders at the top. A second bar with hooks and straps is located at mid-height and a ROTM rail with a heavy-duty strap and ratchet tensioner is found at the bottom.
