Maxus Deliver9 for cleaning and maintaining workplaces
The van in the photos on this page is a Maxus Deliver9 L3 H2. This spacious model was purposefully chosen by the company that operates it, a workplace cleaning and maintenance service that needs to transport floor cleaning machines, detergents, tools, consumables and spares for the repair of office equipment and furniture. Let's run through the various stages of the upfit that led Syncro System to the finished solution seen here.
Phase 1: needs analysis
Syncro’s experts met the van’s owners at the consultation stage to discuss their needs, both regular and occasional.
The following emerged as essential requirements for the workplace maintenance service:
- to organise space into separate compartments to avoid contaminating equipment with chemical detergents and mixing up clean and dirty materials
- to find a way to load wheeled machines without risk and fatigue
- to ensure maximum security for cargo that is too bulky to fit in the racking
Bearing these needs in mind, the Syncro team designed a racking system for the Maxus Deliver9 that includes bodywork protection, a combination of different racking elements and a number of essential accessories.
Phase 2: lining the bodywork
The process of fitting out a van always starts with the installation of liners, since the interior of the cargo compartment, especially the surfaces most liable to wear and tear, needs to be properly protected before any racking and accessories are fitted.
Syncro covered the floor of this Maxus Deliver9 with a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface, a relief aluminium footplate at the rear doors and a protective steel edge at the sliding side door. The van’s walls and doors are lined with custom made steel panels. The van’s owners decided that the bulkhead could be left unprotected. On request, however, Syncro can fit bulkhead liners in chequer plate aluminium, marble-look plywood or rubber-coated plywood. The same applies to the wheel arches which can also be fully enclosed if required.
Phase 3: choosing the racking
Once all the exposed surfaces had been covered, it was finally time to install the racking. The choice of elements fell on just a few functional items: an access ramp for loading scrubber-dryers, trolleys, industrial vacuum cleaners, etc.; two columns of shelves; a full-length top tray for long items and a floor-level case transport compartment.
The Maxus’s loading ramp
The loading ramp installed in the cleaning service’s Maxus Deliver9 is a fixed model with a pivot mounting kit. This type of ramp boasts high load capacity and generous dimensions but can pivot sideways to provide unrestricted access to the load compartment when not in use.
It is ideal for loading equipment like industrial vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, scrubber-dryers, floor sweepers and general purpose cleaning trolleys, all without operator fatigue.
The shelves
Both sides of the van are fitted with columns of four configurable shelves, each equipped with non-slip bottom mats and internal space dividers. These shelves are ideal for carrying – in perfect order – all the consumables needed to clean and maintain workplaces, such as scrapers, sponges, cloths, paper rolls, bags for rubbish, chemical cleaning products and all kinds of detergent.
The two floor-level compartments have been transformed one into an enclosed storage space with a lift-and-rotate door that folds down to provide unrestricted access and the other into a case compartment with sliding fittings and a lashing strap.
The full-length top tray
At this point all that remained was to find a way to carry brushes, mops and the telescopic handles needed to reach inaccessible places. This was achieved by adding a full-length top tray to the left wall. This special type of shelf has a fold-down door at the rear but is also easy to access from the side. It even has ventilation holes in the bottom.
Phase 4: checking the list and adding accessories
The last phase, though not the least important, was to check the list of requirements. Had anything been forgotten?
In the case of this Maxus Deliver9, the only thing not already done was to add cargo lashing accessories. These accessories are indispensable for securing machines and bulky items like buckets, bins and trolleys without them sliding around and denting the van’s bodywork. Syncro therefore installed two lengths of Syncroblock bar: one on the bulkhead, the other on the left side near the rear doors. Both bars are equipped with hooks and lashing straps that can be adjusted to secure objects of any shape and size.
