Three Syncro racking solutions compared

Once you have bought your van, choosing the right liners, racking and accessories can change the way you work!

Buying a van is a decisive moment in your professional life. The make, model and variant have to be chosen to suit the nature of your business and the way you plan to use the vehicle.

But immediately after, there’s another important decision to make! How should you fit it out to get the most out of your new investment?

Syncro System always encourages you to fit proper liners. Protecting the interior of your van is essential if you want it to withstand regular use without incurring the sort of damage that inevitably reduces its value and its working life.

When it comes to choosing the right liners, racking and accessories, the options are endless and should be evaluated with the assistance of a Syncro racking expert. Syncro always takes your needs into consideration before drawing up a fully customised proposal!

Three vans and three completely different ways of using space!

On this page we take a look at three small vans fitted out by Syncro System. All three illustrate typical choices. There is:

1. a Ford Custom L1 H1 with an almost complete lining system but no racking and just one key accessory in the middle of the cargo compartment

2. a Ford Custom L1 H1 as above, with liners, racking on one side and a cargo retaining accessory on the bulkhead

3. a VW ID. Buzz L1 H1 with liners, racking on both sides walls and various accessories

Let’s take a closer look!

Van liners: how to start from a solid base

All three of these vans are fitted with:

  • a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface, installed over spacers to distribute weight evenly and form a stronger, more resistant walkable surface
  • steel panelling on the doors

The side walls, on the other hand, are equipped differently. The sides of the first van, which would otherwise be left exposed, are completely lined. In the second van, only the wall without racking is protected. In the third, liners have been added only at the tops of the side walls since these are protected by the racking at lower levels.

Ford Custom L1 H1: liners and cargo bars

The customer who owns this 2023 Ford Custom L1 H1 designs and constructs high-tech equipment for electric motors.

The van will be used mainly for transporting these components, which are almost always large, to the end customer and back to the workshop for servicing and repair. This means there is no need for racking. Instead, the van is fully lined and fitted only with Syncrostop milled cargo bars.

These are installed horizontally on milled rails attached to vertical pillars. The narrower, rubber-covered side of the bars faces upwards and the milled profiles lie on the sides for easy use with hook and strap lashing accessories.

Worth noting!➡ The cargo bars effectively divide the Custom’s load space into two parts, creating two open but separate compartments for the safe transport of bulky equipment.

Ford Custom L1 H1: racking on one wall and lashing systems on the bulkhead

This second van is identical to the first in make and model, but the racking solution this time is for a construction company.

Here again, the customer asked us to keep a large part of the floor free for loading buckets, tools, equipment and consumables. However, he also wanted us to provide orderly storage for spares, small parts, power tools and various other items.

Racking is therefore installed only on the left of the van. Despite its compact dimensions, the configuration includes:

ID. Buzz L1 H1: liners and racking on both sides

Finally, we come to the third van, a Volkswagen ID. Buzz in the smallest L1 H1 variant, owned by a multi-utility service. In this case, the need to carry a large quantity of readily available material took priority over the need for free floor space. Racking is therefore installed on both sides of the van.

Two racking columns are installed on the left, including: two floor-level compartments (one partly enclosed by a lift-and-rotate door, the other open), three metal drawers of different heights, four configurable shelves, a full-length top shelf and, finally, a fold-away vice bench fixed the racking side panel at the rear doors.

The racking on the right consists of a single column with a very simple configuration. It comprises a floor-level compartment with low door like that on the opposite side, and three shelves.

Other surfaces: bulkhead, ceiling and roof. Everything tailored to your needs!

The vast accessories section of the Syncro catalogue comes to your aid whenever you find that the racking you already have is not enough or special needs arise that demand equally special solutions.

Apart from the cargo bars, there are no other accessories the first van. In the second van there is a length of Syncroblock bar with hooks and straps on the bulkhead and a silicone tube rack with holes for nozzles on the side panel of the left-side racking. In the third van, the left rear door provides cleaning facilities in the form of a handwash kit and soap dispenser, while the side panel of the right-side racking is fitted with a length of Syncroblock bar with three metal hooks.

If you still don’t have enough room for everything, think big! Syncro can fit a custom-made roof rack system and you can even attach some accessories directly to the roof!
