A Movano for an air conditioning firm

Syncro System racking turns a Opel Movano into a workshop on wheels

How much difference can there be between one racking system and another? It all depends on the needs of the customers, because every solution is designed and made to measure! This page describes a mobile workshop in a Opel Movano L2 H1 owned by a firm that installs domestic and industrial air conditioning systems and that needs to carry around a large quantity of hardware, spare parts, tools and equipment every day. The van’s owners want to serve their customers in the most efficient and professional manner possible. Let’s take a look at the fully customised solution proposed by Syncro System.

Syncro liners to protect the Movano and keep it clean

The first job the Syncro team did on this Opel Movano was protect the bodywork against the damaging effects of wear and damp.

The floor is covered by a plywood liner with a marble-look surface, installed using Syncro’s exclusive system of underside spacers and stainless-steel profiles on all exposed edges to ensure maximum protection and mechanical strength. The same material protects the bulkhead behind the cab and provides robust anchor points for accessories.

The van’s doors are lined with custom-shaped steel panels – a material that is extremely strong and also brightens up the interior.

Drawers, shelves and a vice bench on the left of the Movano

The left of this air conditioning firm’s Movano is fully occupied by Syncro racking, consisting of:

  • a floor-level compartment with a bottom profile and a door
  • a smaller, open floor-level compartment equipped with hooks and straps to secure whatever is carried inside
  • a third floor-level compartment near the bulkhead, fitted with a case transport kit consisting of an end plate, slider bar and hooks and straps
  • a set of eight metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal space dividers
  • a full-length top tray for long objects
  • a fold-away vice bench with a built-in support and automatic extension mechanism – a Syncro patent!

A special solution for a special position

The model of Opel Movano seen in these photos boasts two side doors and this feature has been cleverly exploited in the design of the racking. A column of eight trays containing two cases each has been installed at the left side door and arranged to provide easy access from outside the van. In this way, all the small parts and tools needed for the job are instantly accessible without having to climb inside the van. This is yet another example of the great adaptability and flexibility of Syncro racking. It also illustrates the unrivalled experience accumulated in by Syncro over the years since 1996 when we began specialising exclusively in van racking!

Transparent containers on the right of the Opel Movano

The entire right side of the van is taken up by a grand total of 36 transparent containers in Multibox cabinets. This impressive number of containers allows the van’s owners to carry all the hardware and small spares they need to operate effectively in their daily work. The transparency of these containers offers two key benefits: they let you see exactly what’s inside and they help brighten up the interior of the van. This type of storage makes it easy to see when supplies are running out and also saves you time in searching for the parts you need!

The containers are made from PMMA, a super-strong, clear plastic that resists fading and cracking. The patented design of these containers – which have no protruding parts – includes an automatic retaining mechanism to hold them in closed position. Also worth noting is the reduced footprint of the cabinets, which extend no further than the wheel arch but make full use of the entire wall.

Accessories make all the difference in this Movano

Good use has been made of every inch of this Movano by adding accessories to make the user’s life easier.

Cleaning accessories: there is a paper roll holder at the top of the left racking and a handwash kit, not yet installed but seen on the floor at the back of the van

Cargo retaining accessories: between the bulkhead and the left side racking Syncro has installed a bar rack with a top flange and lashing strap; the bulkhead itself is equipped with three sections of Syncroblock bar at different heights, the lowest with hooks and straps for securing cargo and equipment on the floor, the other two with movable, telescopic hooks

Lighting accessories: LED lights under the roof ensure excellent illumination throughout the cargo compartment.

A roof rack with pipe carrier for the Movano L2 H1

The roof of this Movano L2 H1 used to install and service air conditioning systems is equipped with an aluminium roof rack with non-scratch rubber top profiles and stainless-steel fittings and fasteners. The roof rack includes side fences to stop cargo sliding off and Syncro’s exclusive Ultrasilent profile under the front cross bar to minimise noise and vibration on the road.

A stainless-steel pipe carrier with an access door at the rear has been added to carry objects like posts, pipes and cable channels.
