A new Volkswagen Caddy with racking for a security system firm
The photos on this page show a racking system installed by Syncro System for a large company that deals with all aspects of domestic and company security. The van is mainly used to perform maintenance on existing systems and therefore needs only a simple racking solution, with plenty of space left free for future installations or to carry diagnostic equipment. Let’s take a closer look.
A tailor-made floor liner in the 2021 VW Caddy
As always, the first thing the Syncro team did was protect the interior of the van against wear, humidity and the accidental but unavoidable dents and scratches that loading and unloading would otherwise cause. In this case, the customer only wanted basic protection for the Caddy’s floor, and requested a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface. In addition to offering excellent mechanical strength, this material is easy to clean and always looks great thanks to its attractive surface pattern. Syncro floor liners are shaped to fit the specific model of van and come with holes that allow access to the original floor anchor rings.
A Caddy with racking on one side only
As we said above, this new model of VW Caddy, which came out in 2021, has racking installed only on the left side. The racking consists of:
- a large floor-level compartment enclosed by two side panels and partly enclosed at the bottom front by a door that folds down to provide easy access
- four metal drawers with handles recessed into the front panels, non-slip mats and metal space dividers
- one configurable shelf with a raised rear panel
- a top shelf, narrower than the rest of the racking to follow the contours of the van’s body
Plenty of space in the Caddy
A simple racking system like this offers many advantages starting with plenty of easily accessible and usable space. The right of the van has been left completely free, so loading machines, equipment and large spares is particularly easy. To hold everything in place when the van is travelling, Syncro has added various retaining systems to the van’s walls and racking, choosing from the vast range of accessories in the Syncro catalogue . A ramp could also be fitted to making loading even easier. Syncro offers various models including compact versions. The van’s roof could also be equipped with a roof rack, ladder slide or pipe carrier to transport bulky items outside the cargo compartment.
