Just because you drive a large van does not always mean that you want a mobile workshop. You can equip your cargo compartment with racking, of course, but you can also decide to fit only liners or to enhance functionality by adding accessories.
The photos on this page exemplify this choice. They illustrate a large Renault Master L2 H1 owned by a garden maintenance business.
The van’s owners wanted:
Let’s see how Syncro System went about putting these requests into practice.
One of the most important steps in fitting out this Renault Master L2 H1 for garden maintenance was to protect the bodywork. The risk of a van’s interior suffering wear, scratches and dents is particularly high if it has to transport large plants, sharp tools and heavy machinery.
The floor was therefore protected by a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface and with stainless steel cups to permit easy access to the original floor anchor rings. At the rear doors, the edge of the liner is covered by a protective profile in aluminium tread plate, while at the side door the exposed part is covered with a custom-made stainless steel edge profile.
The bottom sections of the doors and side walls are covered by sturdy steel panelling while the wheel arches are completely covered in by two materials: aluminised steel on top and aluminium chequer plate on the vertical surface. With robust protection like this, the wheel arches not only emerge undamaged from accidental contact or impact with heavy cargo but also provide strong and practical supporting surfaces.
Given the requirement for keeping as much floor space as possible free, the Syncro team decided to limit all racking to the left of the Master and to occupy only the half nearest the bulkhead.
The simple racking system consists of two side panels and three configurable shelves with non-slip mats and dividers. Functionality is guaranteed despite the racking’s small footprint. A steel bar rack has been added to the rear-facing side panel, with a strap and buckle lashing system to stop objects moving around during transport. Just like the side walls, the space remaining on the side panel can be used at any time in the future to add other van accessories. The Syncro range includes articles for cleaning, securing cargo, ventilation and lighting.
The most characteristic feature in this Master for a gardening business is the folding ramp.
The customer chose a strong but lightweight, Italian-made WM ramp from the Syncro catalogue. The model selected is large and strong enough to load even the bulkiest wheeled machines, like garden tractors and pallet trucks.
As you can see from the photos, the ramp is installed on a pivot mounting. By swinging the ramp outwards around its left mounting, you can enjoy unrestricted access to the cargo compartment through the rear doors. The ramp mechanism is easy to operate, and maximum load capacity is 1000 kg.
Where can you store essential but awkwardly shaped garden tools with long handles if you don’t want to clutter up the load space?
The answer may not appear immediately, but you only need to look up. The underside of any van’s roof is generally unused but readily accessible.
The Syncro team therefore installed three sections of Syncroblock slider bar under the cross-members of the roof, one equipped with hooks and strap, the other two with plastic clips for tools.
