RACKING FOR A COMPRESSOR SERVICE IN A MASTER
All the vans on the market today suffer from the same problem: insufficient protection for the interior of the load compartment. This means they can easily sustain damage during normal use. The Master is no exception, and this is why the first step in this Syncro upfit was to install protective liners. The Syncro installation team first fitted a floor liner in 12 mm thick resinated plywood, complete with steel edging at the doors and recessed cups for the original cargo anchors. The walls were then covered with tough but lightweight honeycomb plastic panels, laser cut to ensure a perfect match for the shape of the Master’s bodywork. Once the protective linings were in place, the team went on to install the mobile workshop as such. On the left side wall, over the wheel arch, we can see a cabinet with lift-and-rotate door, the ideal solution for turning awkward space over the wheel into useful storage. Further up is a cabinet with four large metal drawers, all with automatic closing, ball bearing runners, non-slip mats and internal dividers. On top of this is a worktop in resinated plywood, complete with a steel backboard and a vice with pipe jaws and a swivel base – exactly what is needed for a stable work bench. Nearer to the cab is a compartment for storing cans of oil and other chemical products, with a stainless steel tray positioned underneath to collect drips. Over this compartment the Syncro team installed another drawer cabinet, again with four metal drawers. The top of the racking on this side consists of three shelves with dividers and non-slip mats. To make full use of all available space, the top two shelves extend forwards over a compartment that houses a powerful but compact vertical compressor. The racking on the van’s right side wall starts with a bottom compartment with a lift-and-rotate door. Over this are two drawer cabinets providing a total of six metal drawers. The top of this racking column is formed by four shelves, again with mats and dividers. The Syncro catalogue contains a vast number of accessories for making mobile workshops safer, more pleasant, and more productive. In this Master, Syncro’s installers have fitted a handwash kit with a water canister and tap and with a liquid soap dispenser. A cargo strap secures the chemical products on the left of the van while the vertical compressor is safely held in place by an aluminium bar on anti-vibration mountings. Three cast aluminium cable holders are fixed to the top of the bulkhead, and a rail and strap are provided at the bottom. At the back of the right side racking is an essential first aid cabinet and a paper roll holder. Interior lighting is provided by three powerful but compact LED ceiling lights, operated by a switch on the right pillar. The compressor is powered by a 380V supply designed to be plugged into the mains at the factories where the mobile workshop operates. The system is connected to an electrical power panel with a safety cut-out and three power sockets.
