Syncro racking in a Trafic used for a lock service
On-site assistance: catering for daily routines and the unforeseen
Most tradesmen who drive working vans provide some form of on-site assistance for domestic and industrial systems and equipment. This challenging work often involves flexible hours and, above all, a high level of organisation.
In such cases, the van:
- assumes the role and form of a mobile workshop
- needs to carry enough tools, accessories and spare parts to cope with routine jobs and unforeseen circumstances
- must have a workbench for maintenance and adjustments
- must be TIDY, with a precise place assigned to every item so that nothing gets lost or forgotten
The watchword is: “always ready”.
The van on this page: a Trafic for a locksmith service
The van described on this page is a great example of the characteristics listed above. It is a Renault Trafic L1 H1 owned by a hardware store, which uses it to provide an on-site locksmith service and to install security and anti-intrusion systems.
The owner asked for plenty of drawers to carry the materials needed to handle most situations without having to go back to the store. The list of indispensables is long and includes, among other things, locks, cylinders, plates, handles and knobs, a lot of small items like screws and spacers, manual tools like screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, hex keys, hammers, drills, and power tools too… all to be kept in perfect order!
That is why the decision was made to install racking on both sides of the van. Let’s take a closer look.
Other racking solutions for the Trafic
Liners: even if they are already fitted, protection can always be improved!
No additional liners were requested for this Trafic used by a locksmith service. The van came into Syncro’s workshops already equipped with a floor liner, and the owner felt that this level of protection was sufficient for his needs.
Remember, however, that even if your van is already partly lined, you can always ask Syncro to install additional liners. Our catalogue includes floor liners in plywood, aluminium tread plate and a combination of both, wall and door panels in steel, painted steel, aluminium or honeycomb plastic, and special liners for the bulkhead, wheel arches and roof.
Other lining solutions for the Trafic
Left wall: a whole warehouse in a compact space
Though this Renault Trafic variant is only a medium-sized van, by making the most of all the space available along the sides, a more than complete warehouse can installed to carry everything you need.
Here is the configuration chosen for this Trafic.
- On the left wall we have: A floor-level compartment with a lift-up door
- A second floor-level compartment with a case transport kit comprising a sliding shuttle and an end plate for supporting the first case
- three large metal drawers and another six smaller ones, all fitted with non-slip mats and internal space dividers
- at the top, two open shelves with Syncro’s patented lift-and-rotate doors
Tip: never think it’s impossible! Thanks to the flexibility of the Syncro racking system, each horizontal component can be combined with any other. Even in difficult situations, Syncro’s racking experts can still find the perfect solution for your needs!
The right of the Trafic: more storage plus a work area
The Trafic’s right wall is shorter than the left due to the presence of the side door. The Syncro team was nevertheless able to provide a second warehouse area for tools and equipment, along with with an essential workbench.
How? The racking column consists of a floor-level compartment with a door, three large metal drawers and, at the top, a shelf with four removable plastic containers. Both side panels are fitted with Multibox cabinets of transparent containers, with three large containers accessible from the rear and six from the side door.
In such little space, you may think that installing a workbench must mean doing without storage. It’s not always necessary to choose, though! Installing a pull-out vice bench offers a great solution to this dilemma!
This type of bench is sandwiched between two levels of racking and, when not in use, occupies hardly any space – only the end of the bench with the vice protrudes from the racking. It takes just a few seconds to open, and provides a stable, tough work surface!
