Two Fiat Scudo racking solutions for different trades

An interesting comparison between two identical Fiat Scudo vans with completely different equipment solutions

Same van, same racking? Almost never, if the racking is from Syncro System. Every van is fitted out to meet the needs of the customer, so the result is always different!

This page compares two Fiat Scudo vans, both L1H1 models, fitted out by Syncro for a plumber and an electrician. The racking solutions are very different: the van on the left has a column of racking along one of the inside walls; the one on the right has only an underfloor drawer system. The space available for carrying equipment and cargo is virtually identical. Only the way in which that space is arranged differs. Let’s take a closer look!

If the function changes, protection requirements change too

Not just the racking but the bodywork protection too depends on the way the van will be used. Take wall liners fort instance. They serve a dual purpose, providing robust anchorage for racking and accessories and protecting the original body panels against dents and rust. But the choice of material depends on whether the wall will be left free or occupied by racking. When it comes to floors, if you are going to carry very heavy equipment, you would do best to install a two-layer, aluminium and plywood floor liner, while a liner in just one of these materials would be fine for most normal applications.

The plumber’s van is fitted with a marble-look plywood floor liner while the walls and doors are lined with custom-made steel panels.

The electrician’s van too has a marble-look plywood floor liner but in this case the same material has also been used to protect the bulkhead and the inner faces of the wheel arches. Steel panelling protects the doors and walls while aluminised steel panels cover the wheel arches.

Syncro racking helps you be a better professional!

Keeping everything you need tidy and in perfect order is the first step towards becoming a better professional. Tidiness eliminates time-wasting and unnecessary trips and purchases to buy items lost in a chaotic heap. This plumber’s Fiat Scudo L1H1 has racking only on the left side. The configuration consists of:

This racking arrangement leaves the right wall and the centre of the floor completely free for loading goods, materials, spares and equipment as needed.

Another way to make full use of the space in your Scudo: here’s the solution chosen by the electrician

A completely different choice of storage was made for the electrician’s Fiat Scudo L1H1. In this case all the space reserved for cargo lies above the raised floor that covers the underfloor drawer system. This metal structure contains three long drawers, two of which are accessible from the back of the van, one from the side door. This system leaves the walls completely free from racking.

The drawers occupy the entirety of the load floor but only a small part of the cargo compartment in height. The raised floor is fully walkable and the contents of the drawers are easily accessible from outside the van thanks to ball-bearing runners that allow them to extend for their full length. This type of racking solution is ideal for small and medium size vans when space is at a premium and needs to be exploited to the full.

Accessories, yes or no? It’s never too late to decide with Syncro!

In these Fiat Scudos you can see only a few of the many accessories in the Syncro System catalogue. In fact, the second van has no accessories at all. One of the advantages of the Syncro racking system is its great flexibility. You can add racking elements and accessories at any time, even years later. Syncro accessories can be fitted to the liners, the racking or the van’s bodywork. Customers can attach new accessories to their racking side panels very easily, as and when needed.

If you need more room, there’s always the roof

Syncro System supplies roof racks for all models of van. A roof rack is an excellent solution for vans with a small cargo compartment, like the Fiat Scudo, especially when you need to carry bulky and awkward items like ladders and pipes! From the comparison on this page, you can see that only the owner of the first van has decided to fit a roof transport system. The chosen roof rack comes complete with side fences and a rear loading roller.
