Any make and model of van can be transformed into a great, fully customised mobile workshop. A chat with a Syncro racking centre is all that is needed to prepare plans for a tailor-made system of Syncro System racking and accessories. Very often, the owner’s trade or work determines how the system is designed: each job has its own specific requirements, and customised racking configurations are needed to satisfy them.
The photos on this page show a Scudo, the medium-size van from the Fiat range, fitted out for a business that installs and repairs plumbing systems. The racking occupies part of the left side and the whole of the right side, while the bulkhead behind the cab is equipped only with a system for securing cargo.
If a van owner plans to install racking in his vehicle, the most far-sighted way to start is to fit a complete system of interior liners. There are three main reasons for this:
This plumber’s Fiat Scudo has had its floor, walls and doors lined. The floor is protected by a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface, complete with protective metal profiles at the doors. The walls and the doors are lined with painted steel panels. All these liners come pre-shaped and pre-drilled ready for installation in this model of van.
The customer asked us to leave enough space inside the van for him to carry large items of equipment. The racking on the left of the van therefore occupies only part of the wall. The floor-level compartment is fitted with a case transport system consisting of an overhead rail with a self-locking, sliding shuttle and an end plate to support the cases. This type of system securely holds cases of all shapes and sizes and releases them for use quickly and easily. Above the case compartment are two metal drawers and two shelves with space dividers. The racking on the right of the van comprises a floor-level compartment partly enclosed by a door, three drawers, each with a non-slip mat and dividers and two shelves at the top.
Accessories play a key role in the functionality of this plumber’s Fiat Scudo. At the van’s side door, the right-side racking is fitted with silicone cartridge rack for seven cartridges and nozzles, a four-place spray can rack and a paper roll holder. The bulkhead is equipped only with a bar and strap lashing system with sliding attachments.
If this combination of racking and accessories seems a good solution for your own van, call us to arrange an appointment and show these photos when you explain your own personal requirements.
