Our installers are used to optimising space in the back of all makes and models of van by devising custom-made racking solutions. The photos on this page refer to a Nissan NV250, a compact van that was nevertheless transformed into a fully functional workshop on wheels for a plumber thanks to Syncro System racking. As you can see, racking was installed on both sides of the van and a cargo retaining system consisting of a bar and lashing strap with sliding fittings added on the bulkhead.
Other ways to increase space in small vans
Here are two techniques that Syncro System uses to fit out smaller vehicles:
- Underfloor drawers: These systems consist of long drawers installed under a walkable raised floor. They offer two important benefits: they keep valuable contents hidden from prying eyes and provide generous storage space without cluttering up the load floor.
- Roof racks: If you do run out of space inside your van, why not make use of the roof? Syncro’s roof racks come with Ultrasilent noise-reducing profiles and can be customised with side fences, pipe carriers and ladder slides to suit the make and model of your van.
Liners for the Nissan NV250
This plumber’s Nissan NV250 is fitted with a marble-look plywood floor liner with protective edges at the doors and with custom-made, painted steel panels on the walls and doors. The bulkhead has been left unprotected in this particular van but, if you wish, Syncro can also supply and fit custom-shaped, pre-drilled liners for your van’s bulkhead, wheel arches and even roof.

The racking on the left of this van starts with two floor-level compartments, one partly enclosed by a patented lift-and-rotate door that pivots down to provide unrestricted access, and the other left open for use as a case compartment and equipped with a lashing strap and end plate. Above these are three shelves with non-slip mats, including one almost at roof level but still easily accessible to the van’s user. A paper roll holder on the racking side panel near the rear doors lets the user wipe and dry his hands and tools when working on site.
The right of the NV250
On the right of the NV250 is a floor-level compartment with the same type of door as the one opposite, three metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal space dividers and, further up again, two configurable shelves. The roof has been equipped with an LED light to illuminate the interior the van evenly and to make loading and unloading safer and more efficient.
