FORTIX vices and vice benches for vans

STEEL VICES

If you work away from your base, you need a robust bench with a vice to make repairs, adjustments and modifications to the parts and spares you use to install and service equipment.

Syncro can fit various types of steel vice:
  • 125 mm vice in forged steel, complete with pipe jaws and a rotating base with quick-lock handles
  • 110 mm vice in welded steel, complete with pipe jaws and a rotating base with quick-lock handles
  • pipe vice (for diameters up to 2 or 3 inches)
Magnetic jaw protectors with fibre contact faces are available as accessories for 125 mm vices. The protectors grip work pieces effectively while protecting them against scratching. Vices can be fitted to pull-out or fold-away vice benches.

PULL-OUT VICE BENCHES

Pull-out vice benches consist of a bench (of 760 or 1014 mm in length and 310, 360 or 410 mm in width) with a high-strength steel frame, a work surface in 24 mm thick birch plywood with a marble-look finish and stainless-steel profiles. Just like any other Ultra horizontal element, pull-out vice benches are installed between two side panels, with the only difference that the outer panel has to be cut away to allow the bench to slide in and out. A sheet of aluminium tread plate is applied around the cutout to protect the side panel against damage by the vice as it slides into the racking. Extending the bench is very easy. Two knobs release the bench and allow you to pull it out. To close the bench, just reverse the opening procedure. Once extended, pull-out vice benches are extremely resistant to downward stress thanks to the robust steel frame that supports them. This frame is held firmly in place at all times by the other racking elements.

PROTECTIVE PANEL FOR PULL-OUT VICE BENCHES

A sheet of aluminium chequer plate is applied around the cutout to protect the side panel against damage by the vice as it slides into the racking.

Telescopic support for pull-out vice benches

This folding, telescopic support in stainless steel is designed for use with a pull-out vice bench. It adds strength and stability to the bench, greatly improving user experience. When closed, it occupies very little room. The support effectively doubles the strength of the bench. Opening is easy thanks to a built-in gas spring. The support is secured in closed position by three practical knobs. This accessory can be used with all makes and models of van.

It requires a minimum installation height of 425 mm above the floor liner in order to close and extends to a maximum height of 1,100 mm.

FOLD-AWAY VICE BENCHES

Fold-away vice benches have a single-piece frame that fixes to the side of the racking and an easily accessible handle. To extend the vice bench, simply pull the handle towards you and fold the bench outwards and downwards. The bench descends safely and smoothly thanks to gas springs and automatically locks in place at the end of its travel. To fold the bench away again, just pull the handle towards you and push the bench upwards and inwards. The bench again locks in place automatically at the end of its travel. The surface that supports the vice is covered with a panel of aluminium tread plate. Fold-away vice benches are available in two versions:

  • a larger version with a built-in extendable ground support
  • a smaller version without a support

COMBINING ULTRA VICE BENCHES

Because of their design, fold-away vice benches need to be fixed to the side of a racking column near the van’s doors. Pull-out vice benches on the other hand are horizontal elements and can be installed at any height, though they also need to be near one of the van’s doors. They can be installed above or below:
