In the Ho.re.ca. (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering) sector, equipment like coffee machines, ice makers, ovens and dishwashers has to be kept fully functional and efficient to ensure a rapid, professional service. Specialist companies exist to provide rapid and expert on-site servicing for machines of this kind.
The van presented here was fitted out for a company that provides exactly this kind of service. It is a Volkswagen Transporter T6 L1 H1 and its racking system has been designed by Syncro System to maximise the efficiency of technical assistance for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector and to eliminate the risk of delays and inconvenience for end customers.
The most obvious feature of this solution is the accessibility of the racking from both inside and outside the vehicle. Let’s take a more detailed look at one of the infinite number of solutions that the versatility of Syncro racking makes possible for the Transporter.
Where do you start when transforming your van? With the liners, which are essential to prevent damage to body panels, reinforce the cargo compartment and provide anchorage for racking and accessories.
In this Transporter L1 H1, the floor liner is in marble-look plywood. This material creates a safe, level and durable surface that is fully walkable and able to withstand even heavy loads. The liner is supported by spacers in all the channels of the original floor and is finished with stainless-steel edge profiles and cups for the anchor rings. Once installed, this type of liner protects the floor beneath against cuts, dents, spillages and rust.
The van’s bulkhead has also been covered with the same material, while the walls, doors and even the underside of the roof have been covered with steel panelling. Syncro’s steel panels form a super-strong interior shell capable of retaining the racking and its contents even in the event of a collision or under heavy braking.
Now let’s move on to the racking itself. Given the clever design of this system, instead of describing the two side configurations separately, we shall proceed according to how the racking is accessed: from inside the van or from the outside through the sliding doors.
Both sides of the van, especially the right, boast space-saving configurations that leave plenty of floor space free for equipment, replacement machines and other cargo.
Left side
Two side panels enclose an open shelf just over the wheel arch, covered with a panel of marble-look plywood. Above this are two lengths of Syncroblock slider bar, fixed to the side panels at the front and back and equipped with a black elastic rubber strap. The bars and strap turn the shelf into a surface capable of the supporting various bulky, heavy objects. A second configurable shelf with a non-slip mat and internal space dividers, is installed at the top of the column.
Right side
The racking on this side of the van comprises Multibox cabinets with a total of 16 removable, tilting transparent containers. Each of these has a metal partition inside to separate out the various spares and components needed for repairing and servicing Ho.Re.Ca. equipment.
This particular Transporter version has sliding doors on both sides. This would normally mean that the length of side wall available for racking is relatively limited. The solution is to “fill” even the openings with racking, arranged for easy access from outside the van rather than from the inside.
Left side door
Opening the side door on the left of the van reveals:
Right side door
The racking on the right is very similar to that on the left. On this side, however, there is no pull-out bench and the floor-level compartment has been left without a back panel to allow small items of cargo to be loaded through it.
