A Proace City and a Master for two plumbers

Two racking systems for plumbers compared: a Proace City and a Master

A good van is an indispensable partner for any plumber. It can serve as a travelling warehouse and workshop as well as a means of transport.

To do this, of course, it needs to be properly equipped to meet the needs of its user. On this page we present a comparison between two vans of different makes and models, both owned by firms that operate in the field of plumbing.

The first van, a Renault Master L1 H1, has Syncro racking only on the left. The second, a Toyota Proace City, also an L1 H1 version, has racking on both sides and a roof rack. Let’s take a look at the advantages of both arrangements, remembering that these are just two of an almost infinite number ways in which both models can be fitted out.

Liners = a longer lasting van. How to extend the life of your van with Syncro

Whatever make and model your van is, and whatever your trade or profession is, the same rule applies: always line the cargo compartment before installing racking. Covering the original floor with a robust floor liner is the best way to improve wear resistance, protect against spillages and distribute the weight of cargo. Both these vans have marble-look plywood floor liners.

Lining the walls and doors with custom-made panels – especially ones made from steel – is the best way to defend against scratches, dents and perforations. In these cases, only the doors of the Proace City have been protected.

One of the main purposes of installing liners – and one that should never be forgotten – is to prevent rust. Dents and scratches can easily allow rust to spread, causing serious damage to the bodywork and necessitating expensive repairs! So it’s always best to cover, insulate and reinforce your van’s interior.

Liners for the Master

Liners for the Proace City

The plumber’s Master with racking on one side only

The racking in this Master L1 H1 is relatively simple and confined to the left side. It consists of two columns, comprising a total of six configurable shelves, one plain shelf with a strap-type case transport system, a floor-level compartment equipped in the same way to serve the same purpose, a second floor-level compartment partly enclosed by a bottom panel, and a full-length top tray. The racking is complemented by two metal pockets for carrying spray cans, silicone cartridges, rags and the like.

This is a GOOD SOLUTION if you need lots of floor space in the back of your van, don’t need to carry large quantities of tools or spares and generally keep everything you need in cases.

It’s NOT SO GOOD if you need to work inside your van or need enclosed storage.

The plumber’s Proace City with racking on both sides

The Toyota Proace City also features a fairly simple racking system, but with columns on both sides. On the left, the area at floor level is divided into two sections, one with a lift-and-rotate door and one open. Above these are three configurable shelves with bottom mats and dividers. The configuration on the right is very similar but smaller to leave space for the side door. Here too the column consists of a floor-level compartment with a door and three small shelves.

This is a GOOD SOLUTION if you want to have storage on both sides of the van and do not need to carry large items of cargo on board.

It’s NOT SO GOOD if you need to work inside your van or need enclosed storage.

How to make the most of your van by carrying equipment on the roof

The Proace City is also fitted with an Ultrasilent roof rack consisting of cross bars, side fences and a rear loading roller. All types of Syncro System roof rack come with an Ultrasilent noise reducing profile. This ridged rubber profile is located under the first cross bar and effectively breaks up the air flow passing underneath when the van is moving. Syncro roof racks save space inside your van by letting you carry awkwardly shaped items on the roof in total safety. Your time on the road is quieter too, with far less annoying noise and vibration.

Are you a plumber looking to transform your own van? You can trust Syncro. Success is guaranteed!

These two examples illustrate just some of the products in Syncro’s vast catalogue and only two of the infinite number of ways in which your van’s cargo compartment can be transformed. Syncro System can install metal drawers, transparent containers, lockers, vice benches, and all kinds of accessories.
