The
Mercedes Sprinter seen in these images came into a Syncro racking centre to be upfitted for a company that sells and services professional cleaning machines. The customer gave the Syncro team the following requirements:
- an easy and safe way to load floor scrubber-dryers and similar bulky machines
- a large number of separate containers for easy access to (and instant identification of) tools, spares and small parts
- a compact workshop area, and the ability to work conveniently outside the van too
- a small compressor
Near the van’s rear doors, the Syncro team installed a
ramp with an 1800 kg load capacity, ideal for loading and unloading even very heavy machinery. The
ramp is made from aluminium and steel and comes complete with a gas spring that assists opening and closing. A swivel mounting allows the ramp, once folded vertically, to be swung through 90 degrees to the left to provide access to the back of the van without having to extend the ramp first.
The van’s cargo compartment boasts an effective lining system consisting of floor, bulkhead, and door liners.
The
floor liner is in plywood with a marble-look surface and incorporates recessed rails for use with hooks, straps, and vertical cargo bars.
The bulkhead is protected by an aluminium chequer plate liner, while the doors are lined with smooth
aluminium panels.
The van’s
left side wall is filled by ultra-compact racking consisting of numerous
transparent containers, perfect for holding parts and spares of various sizes. Syncro transparent containers are made from PMMA, a plastic material that combines transparency with amazing strength. The containers in the bottom section are of the pull-out type while those in the top section tilt open. The larger containers can even be fitted with dividers to form separate compartments. This simple but effective racking system has turned the left side of the van into a functional mobile warehouse where everything is tidy, separate and instantly visible.
One of the two floor-level compartments is fitted with a
case transport system.
The racking on the Sprinter’s
right side consists of
metal drawers, a floor-level compartment, one shelf with a
door and another four open
shelves. This solution is ideal for carrying equipment and material of all kinds that is too large to fit in the transparent containers on the opposite wall.
The
workshop area is found at the Sprinter’s
bulkhead. The work zone includes a made-to-measure table with a marble-look plywood top and a
vice. Illumination is provided by an
LED ceiling light on the underside of a cabinet of transparent plastic containers. Other LED lights under the van’s roof ensure effective illumination for the entire cargo compartment. A
paper roll holder is fitted to the wall alongside the work area while a
Syncro trolley and a 360 l/min portable oilless
compressor are secured under the table. The Syncro trolley can be customised with drawers and shelves as needed and can be removed effortlessly from the van for use outside thanks to the practical ramp. The trolley therefore serves as a mini portable workshop.
