When the going gets tough … Syncro’s mobile workshops get going
Some vans are used merely as transport for working away from base. Others are indispensable platforms for working in challenging logistic circumstances.
The photos on this page illustrate a Peugeot Boxer L2 H2 owned by a firm that hires and services construction site equipment. The van in question is a large model that has been transformed into a mobile workshop to satisfy two different requirements: 1. to transport all the tools, spares and hardware needed for the job
2. to provide practical work benches for the repairs and modifications that have to be carried out on site

Choosing the best liners for your van
As always, the first step in this van transformation project was to ascertain the requirements and expectations of the customer.
The second step was to line the interior of the van to protect it against impacts, damage and damp.
The Boxer seen here has liners fitted to the floor, walls and doors. For the floor, the customer opted for a floor liner with a marble-look surface, a classic choice for its high strength, attractive appearance and excellent grip. For the walls and doors, the customer chose steel panelling – the strongest material available in terms of impact resistance. The bulkhead is also protected by marble-look plywood panels, arranged to follow the contours of the bodywork.

A mobile warehouse in the Boxer
The third step in the creation of this Boxer L2 H2 transformation was to install the racking itself. The customer asked Syncro to provide enough storage to keep everything in perfect order. The solution to this requirement takes the form of:
- On the left: two floor-level compartments transformed into practical storage by the addition of parallelogram-action doors that lift parallel to the racking and require very little space to open; eight metal drawers with internal space dividers and non-slip mats; two case trays covered by an exclusive Syncro patent; three configurable shelves with internal dividers; one shelf of removable plastic containers at the top of the racking near the bulkhead; and one secure locker for work clothes and items that should not be left in full view.
- On the right: a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door; another eight metal drawers and another two configurable shelves at the top. In the central section of this racking is a sealed tray made from welded stainless steel, in which jerry cans containing oil and fuel can be transported with no risk of spillage or leaks. The tray can be easily removed for cleaning. The compartment is also equipped with a lashing strap to keep the jerry cans securely in place.
Working inside the Boxer: benches with large, robust worktops
Another of the customer’s requests was a workshop area for carrying out small jobs.
With this in mind, on the left of this Boxer L2 H2 Syncro installed a bench with a marble-look plywood work surface, complete with a metal vice. This practical and tough worktop is located over a set of drawers that are ideal for keeping tools and frequently needed parts. A second, custom-made work bench is installed at the bulkhead. This consists of a metal frame and a thick, marble-look plywood worktop. Underneath is a slide for a generator that extends towards the outside of the van.
