Keeping the work area tidy and accessible and maximising load capacity are two objectives that Syncro always seeks to achieve when fitting out a van. Various techniques can be adopted to achieve this result, depending on the design and dimensions of the vehicle. In the case of the van seen on this page, a 2014 MY Iveco Daily L3 H2, the electrician who owns it expressed the following requirements during consultations:
Given the vertical dimensions of this model of van, Syncro installed racking that makes the most of its height and saves floor space in the centre of the cargo compartment. Let’s examine the solutions that Syncro System identified and put in place in agreement with the van’s owner.
The first objective, to ensure operator safety, was achieved by installing a plywood floor liner over the Daily’s original floor. A marble-look surface and metal edge profiles at all the doors ensure an excellent level of grip and significantly reduce the risk of slipping when entering or moving around on board.
Three LED tube lights were fitted to the roof cross-members to provide diffused lighting throughout the interior, reducing eye strain and the risk of accidents and injuries in conditions of poor natural light.
Finally, a first aid kit was fixed to the forward side panel of the right-side racking.
The racking on the left of the van makes full use of the available height and combines elements of different depth to provide various forms of storage.
The bottom section: There are three compartments at floor level. The first is enclosed by a lift-up door and is covered by a panel of marble-look plywood. It therefore performs the dual function of storage and support for cargo that can be secured using the hook and strap lashing system attached to the side-wall cross-member. The second compartment is similar to the first, but located under two shelves. The third is equipped with a shuttle-type case transport kit for carrying cases of all types and sizes.
The middle section: The area near the rear door is fitted with a Syncroblock bar with two cable holders at the top. The middle and front columns of racking consist of the two shelves already mentioned, another five similar shelves and Multibox cabinets containing a total of 12 tilting transparent containers that are not as deep as the shelves on which they rest.
The top section: A top tray extends for the full length of the wall and provides ideal storage for cable channels and other long objects.
The generous space available in this model of van allowed Syncro to turn the right side into a mobile warehouse. The two floor-level compartments are both enclosed by lift-up doors. Above these are two almost identical columns containing a total of seven drawers and a pull-out tray with two cases. The tray is the same size as the drawers above it and uses an identical frame and the same telescopic runners.
Two identical shelves with raised rear panels and internal space dividers separate the shelves beneath from the top section. This is reduced in depth but actually provides more separate storage in the form of 14 large tilting transparent drawers, all with plastic space dividers, and 14 smaller transparent containers.
A pair of top shelves caps the racking on this side.
A key feature of this wall from the point of view of functionality is the fold-away vice bench fixed to the side panel at the rear of the van. This takes up very little space when closed and opens in just a few seconds to form a super-stable work bench with built-in support.
At the bulkhead near the Daily’s sliding side door, Syncro installed a cabinet of seven sideways opening drawers in a position that allows operators to access contents directly from the ground. On board, the marble-look top of the cabinet can be used as a robust worktop for writing out quotes or working on a laptop.
The unobstructed section of the bulkhead is fitted with a length of ROTM rail and straps for securing heavy cargo.
Finally, the left rear door is equipped with two cleaning accessories: a paper roll holder at the top, and a handwash kit with holder, water tank with tap and lashing strap.

If your van is tall, we can make full use its height to maximise storage space.
If your van is low, we have ways to create two levels of storage, for example by placing long drawers under a raised floor.
Syncro racking is so versatile that our teams don’t pose any limits to design. We can turn any vehicle into a fully customised mobile workshop!
