A Daily for assisting heavy goods vehicles

An Iveco Daily with racking for HGV assistance

Vans used to provide roadside assistance to heavy goods vehicles always need to an adequate racking system.

The Daily seen on this page is used for this very purpose. The choice of an L4 H3 version ensures ample carrying capacity while custom-made racking with cargo bars and a large work surface keeps everything in perfect order and guarantees efficiency. Let’s take a closer look at the solution conceived for and installed in this Daily by the experts of Syncro System.

A complete lining system for the Iveco Daily L4 H3

One important phase of every racking project takes place before the first element of racking is installed. This is the phase of protecting the van’s interior against damage. Liners dramatically improve the appearance of the cargo compartment, but the main purpose of fitting them is not just a question of looks. The key objective is to protect the van’s bodywork. Top-quality liners can keep your van’s floor, walls and doors in tip-top condition for years to come by preventing the dents and scratches that, sooner or later, inevitably lead to rust.

In this Daily for HGV assistance the floor is covered by a marble-look plywood floor liner. The same material covers the bulkhead where separate panels are arranged to follow the contours of the vehicle.

The secret behind the strength of Syncro System floor liners lies in the details: stainless-steel cups for the anchor rings and edge profiles ensure excellent mechanical strength and effectively prevent corrosion of the floor panels beneath.

The walls and doors of the van are lined with custom-made steel panels for maximum strength, low weight and a bright appearance.

An access ramp and storage for tools and spares on the left of the Daily

The racking in this Daily reaches only to half the height of the walls. On the left we have:

  • a configuration of two identical columns, each consisting of a floor-level compartment with a lift-and-rotate bottom door and a lift-up top door, and four metal drawers with non-slip mats and space dividers
  • a marble-look plywood worktop that extends forward of the left-side racking and also covers the bulkhead racking
  • at the rear doors, a hook and strap retaining system for securing a lightweight folding ramp that the van’s users can fix in place easily whenever needed
  • cargo bars

Cargo bars: a great way to arrange space without enclosing it

This Daily for HGV assistance is equipped with four metal cargo bars. These are installed vertically inside the cargo compartment and serve to divide up space inside the van and stop cargo from sliding around.

Thanks to a practical locking system with rubber feet, cargo bars of this type can be positioned wherever required and moved around as needed.

They provide a great way to form separate compartments without having to install permanent partitions. Cargo bars provide effective, secure support for bulky loads.

A work bench like those back at base!

The long L-shaped worktop that runs over the left side racking and extends over that on the bulkhead is one of the key features of this van and makes a great contribution to the efficiency of its operators.

The provision of such a large work bench turns the van into a great mobile workshop capable of handling maintenance and repair jobs with the same ease as back at the company’s main premises.

The bulkhead: practical and functional

The bulkhead of this Daily has been fitted out in a similar way to the rest of the vehicle. The racking here consists of the extended work surface, four drawers and an enclosed compartment at floor level. The most outstanding aspect of this configuration is a pull-out bench with metal vice. The vice bench can be pulled out from the van’s side door and provides an extra, stable work surface for small jobs.

Accessories and power for tools and electronic devices

The Syncro accessories in this Daily serve a variety of purposes:

  • Retaining accessories: milled rails for use with hook attachments and lashing straps have been added to the van’s walls, to the forward side panel of the left racking, and to the floor-level space between the racking and the bulkhead. These ultra-versatile accessories can be used to secure cargo as needed, or simply left unused, since they take up virtually no space.
  • Lighting accessories: a set of LED ceiling lights ensures excellent illumination throughout the cargo compartment. A total of six lamps have been installed under the roof, with a seventh over the work bench on the left.
  • Power cables and sockets: a multi-socket is provided over the work bench at the front of the cargo compartment. From this a cable leads to an opening in the van’s side where an external socket permits connection to the mains electricity supply. Power tools can therefore be driven directly from the mains. There is also a cable reel on the right wall.
  • A portable compressor is installed in the open compartment next to bulkhead.
