Syncro System has applied all its experience and skill to satisfy the wishes of the owners of the two identical vans illustrated on this page. The vehicle on the left belongs to a company that services mains water and sewer pipes; the one on the right belongs to an electrician.
The models may be identical – both are Iveco Daily L3 H2 variants – but the jobs of their owners are totally unrelated, so working methods, tools and equipment, and the use of space differ radically.
In Daily 1, used to service mains water pipes, racking has been installed on both sides, and a workshop area set up on the bulkhead. In Daily 2, owned by an electrician, the racking is confined to the left side, leaving the rest of the interior almost completely clear.
Syncro always recommends lining at least to some of the interior surfaces before even thinking about racking as such. Syncro liners provide a uniform interior in appearance and structural strength and also protect the vehicle’s original bodywork against damage that can prove both serious and costly.
In Daily 1, the floor is covered by a marble-look plywood floor liner with steel edge profiles and anchor ring cups. The walls and doors are covered in custom-made painted steel panels. The floor is covered in marble-look plywood in Daily 2 too, and the same material has been used to protect the bulkhead. The walls and doors are lined with the same panelling as the first van, but a custom liner consisting of a steel sheet cover and plywood front panel has been installed over the right-hand wheel arch.
The same quantity of tools, equipment and materials can be stored in a smaller space if you use every inch of the available surface. A comparison of the racking on the left of these two vans provides a practical illustration of this statement.
If one wall is left completely clear, as the owner of Daily 2 requested, far more space becomes available for cargo, making it easier to load and unload ladders and other awkward items.
In Daily 1, the racking on the right wall consists of a floor-level compartment with a lashing strap, a jerry can tray with a plastic jerry can, and above this a column of five configurable shelves.
Another important difference between the solutions installed in these two Daily L3 H2 vans can be seen at the bulkhead. In Daily 1 this area has been converted into a work zone while in Daily 2 it has been functionally equipped to load and unload heavy equipment.
Daily 1: Syncro has constructed a workbench from aluminium profiles, complete with a marble-look plywood top and a drawer for tools. The space underneath accommodates a pull-out slide that carries a generator and a small compressor.
The special feature of the bulkhead in Daily 2 is a winch, fixed to a panel of aluminium tread plate on the floor, for loading heavy electrical control panels. Using his own ramp, the customer simply attaches the steel cable to the cargo and uses a remote control to operate the winch and wind the heavy load into the van.
The bulkhead therefore serves different purposes in the two vans, chosen to suit the needs of the job.
Both these Daily vans are equipped with fold-away vice benches. In Daily 1 it is fixed to the rear-facing side panel of the right-side racking; in Daily 2 it occupies the same position on the left. Both incorporate supports that extend along with the bench to provide a stable work surface.
Cargo retaining accessories: Daily 1 is equipped with a bar rack and strap, a fire extinguisher bracket, a metal pocket and a ROTM rail with a heavy-duty strap. Daily 2 has a Syncroblock bar with three cable holders on the bulkhead.
Cleaning accessories: In Daily 1, the left rear door has been fitted with a paper roll holder complete with rain cover, a handwash kit with water tank and tap, and a soap dispenser. A paper roll holder is also installed in Daily 2, but inside the van where it does not require protection from the weather.
Lighting accessories: both vans have LED tube lights fixed to the roof cross-members. Daily 1 is also equipped with an outward-facing LED spotlight over the rear doors.
