An Iveco Daily 2014 for a kitchen installation service

An Iveco Daily with Syncro racking for installing kitchens

The company that commissioned the racking system for this Iveco Daily designs, supplies, installs and services kitchens, for domestic use as well as for canteens, food processing businesses and catering services. The company’s work requires a large van with plenty of space to carry kitchen furniture and appliances, as well as storage for hand tools like saws and spirit levels, power tools like drills and screwdrivers and small parts and spares besides. To meet these needs, the customer purchased a large Iveco Daily L3 H3 and asked Syncro System to install enough storage capacity to keep all the materials needed for kitchen installations in order while leaving one side completely free to carry bulky cargo. Syncro System therefore concentrated all the racking on the left side and bulkhead, while only installing protective liners on the right side wall. Let’s take a closer look at the result.

Liners for the Daily

We never tire of repeating it: liners should ALWAYS be fitted. There is no reason to do without at least a minimum of protection in the form of Syncro van liners.

A partial lining solution was chosen for this Daily L3 H3 for installing kitchens. The floor is covered by a marble-look plywood floor liner with stainless-steel edge protectors and recessed cups that permit use of the original anchor rings but prevent the ingress of dirt and water. The doors and both side walls – excluding the top section – are protected by painted custom steel panelling, while the bulkhead and roof are left in their original state. You can also ask Syncro for tailor-made liners for wheel arches and for special items like a cab roof storage unit which turns the unused area over the cab into a practical storage space with a door inside the cargo compartment – a particularly good idea in tall vans like the one featured here!

The racking configuration in this Daily: the left side

The racking on the left is configured as follows.

  • The rearmost column starts with a floor-level compartment over the wheel arch. The storage area formed in this way is partly enclosed by a metal panel at the bottom.
  • Further up are five open shelves with adapters for a total of 15 cases.
  • Next come two configurable shelves with non-slip mats and metal space dividers. The column at the front of the van is partly enclosed by the bulkhead racking. Two compartments, only partly visible from in front, have been created in this way: one at floor level, one higher up. The upper compartment houses an Ecoflow Power Station in a custom-made frame. Between the two compartments are two drawers, again with non-slip mats and dividers.
  • At the top, both columns are straddled by a full-length top tray with a fold-down door at the rear and easy access over the long side.

This racking configuration has turned the left of the Daily into a well-equipped warehouse. With so many cases, shelves and drawers, small items of hardware and spare parts are always in perfect order and readily available when needed. And cases offer the added advantage of being able to carry all essential parts directly to the work site!

The racking configuration in this Daily: the bulkhead

More open shelves have been installed on the bulkhead, always with the flanges facing upwards. The racking here occupies every centimetre of available space. The topmost of the four shelves is equipped with adapters for Euronorm containers. As explained above, the inner section of the bulkhead is occupied by the partly hidden open compartments of the left-side racking.

Accessories and … possible additions to the Daily

The right of this Iveco Daily L3 H3 has been left completely free for the customer to carry all the parts and products that make up kitchen furniture and appliances. Cargo still needs to be secured for transport on the road, however.

For this purpose, two milled rails with hooks and lashing straps have been fixed to the front of the left-side racking. Thanks to these accessories (and any other cargo retaining systems that might be installed on the right of the van at a later date), all cargo can be carried in total safety, without risk of damage to the vehicle or – in the event of an accident – to other road users.

The Ecoflow Power Station installed in the racking is essential for recharging power tools during travel from one site to another. This reduces downtime and exponentially improves the image of professionalism that the installation team project to their customers. Finally, to ensure adequate illumination inside the cargo compartment, Syncro has fitted four energy-efficient LED tube lights connected to the vehicle's battery.
