With the right equipment and Syncro System’s expertise in van transformations, the answer is yes!
What do you need?
The Daily Iveco L3 H2 seen in these photos is an excellent example of how a commercial vehicle can be transformed into a great mobile workshop. This gem of efficiency and order was designed and made for a vehicle dealer who provides a roadside assistance service. Let’s take a closer look!
The need to protect van interiors is often underestimated by owners. The fact is that top-quality liners not only afford protection against impacts, dents and scratches but also provide a robust, flat surface to which racking and accessories can be attached.
In this Daily L3 H2, the floor has been covered with an aluminium tread plate floor liner into which two milled aluminium rails have been recessed, parallel to the racking on both sides. The walls and doors are protected by strong steel panelling. The bulkhead has been left uncovered, but a cab roof storage unit has been installed at the top.
The door above the cab visible in this Daily is a special feature that Syncro offers for certain tall models of van. Made from high-strength steel sheet, this door closes off the otherwise unused space over the driver’s cab, turning it into a practical storage compartment that can be accessed easily from inside the cargo compartment.
The door is equipped with a key lock and double latch. Its installation provides a secure storage compartment and lets you make full use of the space inside the Daily to 100% even in height and depth.
Syncro has turned the left of this Daily for roadside assistance into a perfect work area to rival facilities back at base.
A plywood worktop covered in stainless-steel for maximum strength has been installed over a half-height racking column consisting of a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door and eight metal drawers. The worktop has raised edges at the back and on one side to protect the racking and stop tools falling down behind.
The work area is served by an electrical power panel with sockets, a full-length top tray with a fold-down door at the rear, and a conveniently located first aid kit.
The left-side racking near the bulkhead has been used to provide the van with a fully autonomous energy supply. The area is delimited only by a configurable shelf under which is installed:
A great deal of attention has been paid to storage in this Daily. After all, to be of any use in roadside assistance, the van needs to carry everything that might be needed and more! Storage space is distributed as follows.
The right wall: Starting from the bottom, we can see a floor-level compartment enclosed by a lift-up door over the wheel arch, ten metal drawers, a full-width configurable shelf, another shelf with a top-pivot door and a sealed tray in stainless steel, partly enclosed by a lift-and-rotate door. At the very top on this side is a Multibox cabinet with 10 pull-out transparent containers.
The bulkhead: This area provide another ten metal drawers with automatic retaining mechanisms, non-slip mats and interior space dividers. A shelf has been added at the top.
How can you add accessories without cluttering up the inside of the van? Use the doors – properly lined, of course!
Nearly all the cleaning accessories in this Daily have been fixed to the rear doors. On the left we have a handwash kit with soap dispenser while on the right we have the latest rubbish bag holder.
The only exception is the paper roll holder, which is fixed to the rear-facing side panel of the right-side racking.
If you want to work autonomously even in low light, you need to think about lighting accessories. This Daily is equipped as follows.
As with all practical van racking systems, the solution installed in this Daily could not do without cargo retaining accessories. A length of Syncroblock bar with an anti-scratch rubber profile and a ratchet strap has been added at the bottom on the left-side racking. Two similar bars without protective rubber profiles secure a trolley to the right rear door and a jack to the right wall.
A jerry can holder is installed on the floor and a fire extinguisher bracket higher up in the space to the left of the bulkhead racking.
Two bar racks have also been provided, one on the outer side panel of the bulkhead racking and the other, equipped with a Syncroblock bar, on the right-side racking facing the rear doors.
