Thanks to the flexibility and modular design of Syncro products, you can install virtually any combination of racking and accessories in your van. That’s why, even if you compare racking solutions for the same type of work, you’ll never find completely identical designs. Nevertheless, our R&D department has designed certain racking components and accessories specifically to meet certain needs. These items are therefore found more frequently. They are, however, perfectly adaptable to all vehicles, irrespective of shape and size.
Cargo bars a very good example of this and are a real ‘must-have’ for door and window installers. We can see them in use in the Peugeot Boxer L2 H2 illustrated on this page, which was fitted out for a company that installs doors and windows.
The starting point of any good van conversion is to install liners over the original bodywork to protect it against damage from impacts and normal wear and tear.
This Boxer boasts an almost complete set of liners: the floor is protected by a liner made from marble-look plywood and the bulkhead is shielded by panels of the same material. All the panels in Syncro van lining systems are custom shaped and drilled at our Cassola factory. They are therefore quick and easy to install accurately in all makes and models of van.
The Boxer’s doors and walls, on the other hand, are lined with panels made from steel. Of the various materials which Syncro uses to produce its lining panels, steel offers the greatest resistance to mechanical stress.
The left of the Boxer is laid out as a practical work area for minor repairs and modifications and is served by a variety of containers for spares, tools, equipment and sundries. In particular, we have:
In addition to the well-equipped left side, the van’s right side is also fitted with racking, but this time primarily as storage.
The single floor-level compartment is partly enclosed at the bottom by lift-and-rotate door. Further up are five metal trays for cases, with Syncro’s patented latching mechanism for automatic closing and easy, full-length opening. Then there is a metal drawer and a shelf with a top-pivot door, a full-length configurable shelf and, finally, two rows of Multibox cabinets similar to those on the opposite wall but shorter in length and therefore with one less container.
Particularly worth noting is the pull-out bench with metal vice, sandwiched between the two lower racking levels in order to occupy virtually no additional space.
One item of equipment in particular stands out in this Peugeot Boxer: Syncrostop milled cargo bars.
What’s so special about these?
1. They are made from lightweight but strong aluminium.
2. Their exclusive shape is protected by a registered European design.
3. Airline holes milled in the larger sides allow the bars to be fixed one to another and to various cargo retaining accessories.
4. The narrow side is rubber coated to avoid scratching cargo at the point of contact.
5. Though generally supplied in a standard length of 1.87 metres, they can be ordered and cut to any size between 0.5 and 6 metres.
6. They are engaged in milled aluminium rails fixed to the van’s roof and floor.
All these details combine to make Syncrostop bars the perfect solution for transporting doors and windows or any other bulky but fragile cargo that needs to be protected against impact and sudden movement.
Is there anything missing? The accessories, of course! Syncro accessories play an essential role in maximising the functionality of your van. They can also be installed at any time.
Let’s look more closely at this Boxer L2 H2 for a door and window installer.
The customer needed basic facilities for cleaning hands and tools.
➡This need was satisfied by adding a handwash kit complete with a soap dispenser and paper roll holder.
He also wanted to ensure adequate lighting throughout the van, with even better illumination for the work bench.
➡Syncro fitted LED tube lights under the roof cross-members and directly over the work bench.
Certain objects have to be carried where they are easily accessible without having to climb on board, and items too large to fit in drawers and shelves need to be safely secured.
➡The customer has added a multi-purpose metal pocket near the back door and a section of Syncroblock bar with hooks and straps at the bulkhead.
Finally, a first aid kit is installed just over the work bench.
