The
Ford Custom is the first mid-size van from the German-American automotive manufacturer. With the Courier, the
Connect and the
Transit, it completes their range of commercial vehicles.
The Custom is a mid-size panel van with adequate payload by market standards – therefore with relatively straight walls, it is well-suited for a complete conversion with
Syncro System racking solutions.
In the photos, you can see a
Custom conversion with interior paneling and shelving components.
Let’s start at the bottom… For this Custom, we installed the 12 mm resin-coated
plywood floor panel, complete with steel borders that correspond to the van’s doors. The floor panel is of paramount importance to guarantee a perfectly flat loading surface, to protect the original van floor from damage, and to create a solid base on which to mount the racking units.
The owner of this Custom chose to mount a second 12 mm plywood panel to
protect the bulkhead.
The shelving on the left-hand side consists of two open compartments along the base. The one covering the wheel arch is complete with closing front panel that has a patented space-saving, open-wide rotational hinge system. The other compartment has been equipped with a strap and clasp for securing items while in transit.
Moving up, we find three
shelves, all complete with rubber mats and aluminum dividers that can be positioned as needed. At the top is the Syncro long object storage shelf with end flap, for transporting elongated objects like pipes, rods, tubes, etc.
Much like the right-hand side, the base consists of a wheel arch frame with opening front panel using the rotational hinge system, and four shelves with rubber mats and dividers.
The Custom conversion is finished off with two
strap and clasps mounted on aluminum tracks – for quickly and safely securing all kinds of equipment and materials.
