At Syncro, every van is fitted out in a personalised way, but certain needs arise frequently as a result of type of work done by the owner.
The van on this page is a Ford Custom L1 H1 owned by a plumber. The following requests, expressed by the vehicle’s owner, are among those most frequently made by plumbers:
1. To organise tools, spare parts, fittings, seals, fasteners and other small components in an accessible, orderly manner.
2. To perform small cutting jobs and adjustments inside the van.
3. To carry cases of different size safely.
4. To secure drills, presses and other heavy tools.
5. To clean hands and tools.
6. To carry long ladders and pipes without cluttering up the inside of the van.
7. To ensure operator safety in an emergency.
The floor in this van is covered with a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface while the side walls and doors are protected by plastic panelling.
Racking has been installed on both sides of the van while the bulkhead has been equipped only with accessories.
Let’s see, step by step, how the customer’s needs have been met.
Various types of storage have been integrated in the racking on both the right and left sides of the van. These include: metal drawers with recessed handles, non-slip mats and internal dividers; shelves equipped internally in the same way; and open shelves with removable plastic containers, some of which have handles for easy transport to the work site.
The racking on the left of the van incorporates an extremely practical pull-out vice bench. When closed, this takes up very little space (only enough to support the metal vice). The bench can be extended easily be releasing two locking knobs and, once extended and locked in place, forms a robust and stable work surface.
Two of the three floor-level spaces have been transformed into practical storage compartments by adding a patented, full-access, lift-and-rotate door. The inner one, however, has been turned into a universal case compartment by adding a kit consisting of a bar with a lockable, sliding shuttle and an end plate for supporting the cases.
The bulkhead of this plumber’s Custom is equipped to carry various items of cargo without them sliding around when the van is travelling. The bottom is fitted with a length of Airline bar combined with a hook and strap lashing system for securing various types of cargo while the top is fitted with a cable holder and a movable telescopic hook on a section of Syncroblock slider bar, a great way to carry cables and pipes.
Almost all Syncro customers, and especially plumbers, ask us to install cleaning accessories. In this case, we have added a paper roll holder on the rear-facing side panel of the left racking and a handwash kit consisting of a holder with strap and a water tank with tap on the left rear door.
This plumber’s 2023 MY Ford Custom is only a medium size L1 H1 model, but it boasts an extended carrying capacity thanks to the addition of a roof rack. The rack consists of two side fences, three rubber-topped crossbars, and a rear roller for easier loading. The front crossbar is equipped with an Ultrasilent noise-reducing profile on its underside
The safety component is certainly not missing in this Custom: a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher bracket have been fixed to the side panel of the right-side racking. Two spray can racks are also located on the front side panel of the same column. Positioned in this way, they can be reached without having to climb on board.
