To get so many racking elements into such a small van while ensuring complete functionality, you need two things:
Because Syncro System satisfies both these conditions, we can meet the needs of all customers by personalising racking solutions to match their specific requirements. Why is a small van sometimes the best choice? First of all, because small vans are far more manoeuvrable in the city and along narrow country roads – situations in which installers and service technicians often find themselves when working at their customers’ premises! In the case illustrated on this page, discussions with Syncro’s racking experts soon showed that everything the customer needed could be installed in an orderly and accessible manner even in this small van.
So let’s see how this Custom L1 H1 was turned into a mobile workshop for an electrician.
The vehicle shown in the photos on this page is the medium model of the Ford van range – the Custom.
The configuration is the most compact too – L1 H1. The van’s owner, who installs and repairs electrical, telephone and alarm systems, asked us to install racking on all three walls, and requested more besides. The roof of the van plays a key role in this project, as it has been utilised underneath and above.
The result is a compact but super-functional racking system that uses 100% of available space!
You have complete freedom in choosing what racking and accessories you want to install in your van. But there is one point on which Syncro racking installers always insist: liners.
Protecting the interior of your van with at least a minimum set of liners is always recommended as doing so extends its useful life and maintains its resale value on the second-hand market.
In this Ford Custom, the floor is covered with a marble-look plywood floor liner with steel edge profiles on all exposed edges while the walls are covered in tough steel panelling.
Not one inch has been left unused on the left of this Custom. All available space has been exploited in order to provide easily accessible storage for the electrician’s tools and materials. Starting at the bottom we have:
The side door reduces the amount of wall available on the right of this Custom. All available space has been used to provide an open floor-level compartment, three large metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal dividers, and two shelves at the top. Note the pull-out vice bench sandwiched between two levels of racking. This protrudes from the side panel and extends outwards through the rear doors. The bench is equipped with a metal vice and a telescopic support for greater strength and stability.
A first aid kit has been fixed to the rear-facing side panel.
To make full use of every inch of space in this compact van, the customer asked us to install racking on the bulkhead too.
This area has been turned into useful storage by the addition of four shelves and two secure lockers that can be configured as needed inside using drawers, shelves or rods and hangers for clothes.
An essential paper roll holder has also been added, facing the side door.
Even the impossible becomes possible thanks to the experience of Syncro’s racking experts. This customer wanted to carry a large folding ladder inside the van, but without cluttering up the loadspace.
The only way to do it? Under the roof! Given the limited amount of space left by racking on all three walls, the Syncro team had to come up with a fully customised solution. The ladder is supported by adjustable steel hooks at the bulkhead end and by a hook and strap lashing system at the rear of the van.
