On this page we compare two Syncro System racking solutions in two almost identical vans operated by customers who also work in the same sector: fire prevention.
Van no. 1 is a 2012 model Ford Custom L1 H1 that has been fitted only with liners and cargo retaining systems. Van no. 2 is a 2023 model Ford Custom L1 H1 that has also been equipped with racking on both sides.
Let’s look at the points in common, probably dictated by the needs of the sector, and at the personal solutions chosen by both customers in agreement with Syncro.
Any Syncro racking technician will tell you the same thing: some if not all the interior surfaces of your van need to be protected by liners. There are many reasons for this, including:
Custom no.1 is equipped with a marble-look plywood floor liner with stainless steel edge profiles and anchor ring cups; wall and door panels in steel sheet; and aluminium chequer plate and steel wheel arch covers.
Custom no. 2 is equipped with the same floor liner, but without covers for the wheel arches since these are protected inside floor level compartments.
The cargo compartment has been left completely free. The side walls and bulkhead have been fitted only with three galvanised steel rails for use with ratchet straps.
Airline milled rails have also been recessed into the floor liner to hold cargo bars and to attach hooks and straps.
The entire interior of the Ford Custom can therefore be used for carrying even large items of equipment and cargo can be carried securely thanks to retaining accessories that are strategically positioned to allow easy access.
The only other accessory installed in this van is a set of LED tube lights which provide bright, uniform illumination throughout the cargo compartment and consume very little energy.
The needs of both customers are partly similar. Cargo retaining accessories therefore abound here too, but this van also has racking on both sides.
On the left we have a column of racking with a floor-level compartment with a front bottom profile, three configurable shelves with anti-slip mats and internal space dividers and, at the top, a cabinet of four Multibox pull-out transparent containers.
On the right we have another floor-level compartment, a plain shelf with the flanges facing down and with a Syncroblock bar and lashing strap on the wall behind it, a configurable shelf and, at the top, another cabinet of transparent containers identical to that opposite.
Cargo retaining accessories include heavy duty rails and lashing straps (with a breaking strain of up to 4000 kg) on the side panel of the right-side racking and in the space between the left-side racking and the bulkhead, and a multi-purpose metal pocket on the side panel of the left-side racking.
