Getting your van professionally equipped is an essential step if you want to excel in your work. More than a whim or an add-on, a Syncro upgrade exponentially increases the functionality and potential of your van, helping you to save time and become far more efficient and professional in everything you do.
The vehicle illustrated on this page is Fiat’s flagship commercial, a Ducato L2 H2. Though only the mid-length, mid-height version of the Ducato range, the L2 H2 is still far more spacious than most similar vehicles.
The van is owned by a firm that installs and services civil and industrial electrical systems and the customer asked Syncro to concentrate all the racking on one side and on the bulkhead, leaving plenty of room in the cargo compartment for carrying large items of equipment. Let’s take a closer look.
Syncro can install different levels of bodywork protection and this customer chose to have their Ducato only partially lined.
After all, the need for liners depends on the vehicle’s function, how it is going to be used, and the type of load it is likely to carry. In this case, the decision was taken to cover the floor with a plywood floor liner with protective metal profiles on all exposed edges and to line the walls and doors with painted steel panels.
Because the bulkhead is partly protected by racking, it has not had liners fitted. The same decision was made for the wheel arches. The Syncro System catalogue nevertheless offers protection for these areas of your van’s cargo compartment too. The materials from which these Syncro liners are made are renowned for their light weight and their resistance to mechanical stress and damp.
The Syncro System catalogue contains a vast range of open and enclosed storage elements for keeping tools, equipment, small parts, spares, consumables and electrical and electronic devices safe and tidy. Some racking elements, like shelves, can be left open or turned into enclosed compartments by adding a door.
How to choose between so many options?
A preliminary design is of the greatest importance, and one is drawn up for each Syncro racking project. Syncro System (who have specialised in van racking since 1996) prepare this design on the basis of the requirements expressed by the customer.
In this Ducato L2 H2, for example, most of the storage elements are enclosed. Why?
The main section of racking in this electrician’s Ducato is concentrated on the left of the van and consists of:
The right of this Ducato has been left without racking as such but has been equipped with accessories to turn it onto a functional open storage area.
Two lengths of Syncroblock slider bar have been installed in parallel, one towards the middle and the other towards the top of the wall. This type of bar is compatible with a vast range of Syncro cargo carrying accessories. In this case they have been equipped with eight cable holders, but this configuration is not fixed and the van’s owners can move or add to these accessories or even replace them with items like lashing straps or universal clamps as needed.
The electrical service that owns this Ducato L2 H2 decided to leave the right side largely free and to make use of the bulkhead to install additional racking. The racking here does not cover the entire surface either in height or in width but it is nevertheless extremely useful for the electricians as it houses a set of four trays containing two metal cases each, along with a floor-level compartment with a lashing strap, a shelf with a door and an open shelf at the top.
The compartment at floor level can hold up to eight cases containing power tools, spares or fasteners for use on site. The case trays function just like drawers: they open by pressing a button on the front and are equipped with an automatic latching system to hold them closed. And because they are mounted on ball-bearing runners, they can be extended for their full length.
The roof of this Fiat Ducato is particularly well equipped. Syncro has installed a roof rack with an Ultrasilent profile, rear loading roller, side fences and cross-bars with rubber top profiles. On this are a damped action ladder slide with gas-spring assisted ascent and a stainless-steel pipe carrier with a rear door, for carrying cable channels, posts and other long objects.
The racking solution in this Ducato is just one example of an almost infinite number of possible configurations, between liners, racking and accessories, that you can choose for your own van. Remember that every Syncro racking system is personalised and unique!
