A Syncro mobile workshop in a Ducato L3 H2 for servicing floor cleaning machines

The Fiat Ducato L3 H2 seen in the photos on this page is a good example. Its spacious interior and square bodywork allowed Syncro System to install a wide range of racking elements on all three walls. The customer, who provides technical assistance for floor cleaning machines, stipulated the following requirements:
- to make full use of all three walls without restricting the central aisle
- to have lots of storage for spares and hardware
- to have a practical work area with everything close to hand (including compressed air and electrical power)

Interior liners = protected bodywork and a longer lasting van
Syncro System always emphasises the importance of installing bodywork protection in your van BEFORE the racking. Why this insistence?
1. Liners protect the interior of your van against dents and scratches.
2. By preventing damage, liners also prevent rust.
3. A dent-free, rust-free body lasts longer and saves you money on costly bodywork repairs!
The floor of this Ducato L3 H2 is protected by a custom-made plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface and protective profiles in stainless steel and aluminium tread plate at the doors. The walls and doors are protected by painted steel panels.
Plenty of space and order even from compact racking
The Syncro team came up with the perfect solution for this Ducato. The compact racking combines the need for a large central aisle with the requirement for plenty of containers for keeping everything in order.
The racking on the two side walls is similar in many ways and consists of:
- a partly enclosed floor-level compartment that turns the area around the wheel arch into practical storage
- a shelf with a non-slip bottom mat
- a stack of five rows of shallow, removable, tilting transparent containers and a full-length top shelf. The Ducato boasts a total of 65 transparent containers on the side walls alone. Considering that these can also be formed into separate compartments by adding one or two dividers, this van provides orderly storage for a truly vast range of spares!
The left wall, which has no side door, has more room for racking and therefore features a second column of shelving with a sealed tray at floor level. This useful item deserves a closer look.
Sealed trays: what are they for?
This Ducato L3 H2 for servicing floor cleaning machines is equipped with a number of sealed trays. Though they look just like simple steel trays, their characteristics make these products quite unique.
- They are made from stainless steel to resist damp and all types of liquid, including fuels.
- Their raised edges keep any leaks and spillages securely inside.
- They can be removed for cleaning in just a few seconds.
- Bottom grilles are fitted as standard to keep cans and containers clean. Leaks and spillages therefore stay at the bottom of the tray and do not foul the underside of cans.
- They can be equipped with lashing straps to stop liquid containers – jerry cans, tanks and bottles – moving around when the van is travelling.
A perfectly equipped work area at the Ducato’s bulkhead
The work surface requested by the customer is installed at the van’s bulkhead. All available space is occupied by a marble-look plywood work bench with a metal vice.
The work surface is supported by a set of metal drawers at the right and, at the left, by a specially shaped structure that also supports sideways-opening drawers that serve the work area. A wall-mounted cabinet containing another six pull-out transparent containers adds to the functionality of this area.
The details that make the difference in the Ducato for technical assistance
The liners and storage elements obviously form the backbone of any racking system. But what about accessories? Experience has taught Syncro that much more can be done to turn customers’ vans into perfect workshops. This Ducato is equipped with:
- a portable oilless compressor, located in a compartment near the bulkhead, for powering compressed-air driven tools, cleaning and inflating tyres
- a wiring harness serving power sockets and an industrial connector near the sliding door
- LED tube lights under the roof for uniform illumination throughout the van’s interior
- two spray can racks, fixed to the side of the bulkhead racking
The Ducato’s access ramp: practical and safe
A van used for servicing floor cleaning machines needs a ramp to allow heavy wheeled machines to be loaded and unloaded without operator fatigue. Ramps make getting equipment into and out of the van a whole lot easier and dramatically reduce the risk of damage to machines and injury to operators.
The ramp in this Ducato L3 H2 is a pivoting and folding model that is permanently fixed to the floor on the left. A pivot mechanism allows the ramp to be secured at the right or released and swung outwards to permit easy access to the van through the back doors.
