Upfit of the Fiat Ducato with clear plastic drawers
FIAT DUCATO, ONE OF THE FAVORITE CHOICES FOR A MOBILE WORKSHOP
The Ducato, manufactured by the Italian automotive company Fiat, was first launched in 1982 and met with immediate success.
The second generation was introduced in 1994, and the current model has been in production since 2006 … a success story lasting 30 years.
Since its inception, the Fiat Ducato has been a valuable work companion for millions of craftsmen, tradesmen, business owners, and builders.
Many of the Ducatos upfitted by the Syncro Group have been created for plumbers, electricians, repair men, and maintenance workers.
On this page, you can see an example of an upfit of the Ducato that consists of shelving units, interior panels and linings, drawer units with clear plastic drawers, accessories, and utility rack.
One of the first things you notice is just how much space there is between the two racking units. In fact, the Ducato has the most cargo space, width-wise, of any van on the market, and with the Syncro modules on the right side taking up only 21 cm, it is possible to have about 110 cm of free cargo space.
THE INTERIOR UPFIT OF THE DUCATO WITH SHELVING AND DRAWER UNITS
As in almost all of our upfits, the first step consists of mounting the interior protection panels, including the floor panel. The floor panel of this Ducato is made of 12 mm durable coated plywood, while the wall linings consist of pre laser-cut, coated, galvanized steel panels.
The upfit on the left side consists of a closed wheel arch frame with a hinged door. Two more open wheel arch frames were mounted next to it, one on top of the other – complete with straps for easy storing and securing of portable utility and tool cases.
Above the single base frame, we mounted two metal drawers sliding on ball bearing glides, a pull-out tray with two portable metal utility cases (173 cm high), complete with sturdy plastic containers, allowing the organized and safe transport of an impressive amount of screws, bolts, gaskets, and indispensable small parts.
Above this, there we placed a shelving unit with one open shelf and two with hinged front doors. All come with metal dividers. At the top, we positioned a long tray with raised sides for secure storage and transport of tubes, pipes, and other long objects.
The upfit on the right side is composed of two drawer units with a total of 24 removable clear plastic drawers and other six drawer units each with 3 forward-tilting clear plastic drawers.
Due to the metal dividers provided to the client, it is possible to organize, store and transport up to 180 types of small parts, components, fittings, etc!!
But there's more …. we added several useful van accessories: mounted to the back door is the hand-washing kit with water, soap and paper towels. To secure cargo in the back of the cargo space, we placed a steel track with straps that can hold up to 4,000 kg. On the left side of the cargo area, we installed a long tray with raised sides and a closing end flap to hold long objects such as pipes or rods, and we hung two cable holders for cables, cords or tubing.
The lighting in the van consists of a bright 18-Watt neon ceiling light, powered by the van's battery.
ROOF-TOP UTILITY RACK FOR THE DUCATO UPFIT
To also transport materials on the roof, we mounted our Ducato utility rack – made completely of aluminum and steel, lightweight and durable, and complete with rolling rear cross bar for convenient loading.
