A Fiat Ducato for a truck assistance company

How Syncro helps to improve roadside assistance for HGVs

Improving service to end users is one of the main reasons for installing a van racking system!

Installing liners, racking and accessories in your van:

  • saves you time and money, letting you concentrate on the job in hand
  • ensures that everything is kept in perfect order, greatly enhancing your professionalism
  • exponentially improves your autonomy on the move and reduces the need to shuttle between your base and the work site

The photos on this page illustrate a 2006 MY Fiat Ducato L2 H2 that Syncro System has fitted out for a truck assistance company.

The vehicle is well lined and fitted with racking on both sides. A number of useful accessories have been added in convenient places too. Let’s take a closer look!

Functional liners for the truck assistance firm’s Fiat Ducato

As always, let’s start with the liners, which protect the interior bodywork of the Ducato against dents, scratches and spillages.

The lining in this Ducato L2 H2 is particularly effective, covering the floor, the doors and the bulkhead. No panelling has been installed on the roof or on the walls, which are almost completely hidden by racking.

The floor is protected by one of Syncro’s marble-look plywood floor liners. The panels that cover the bulkhead are made from the same material and are shaped and arranged to follow the contours of the bulkhead. The rear and side doors are protected by tough steel panelling. Syncro floor liners stand out for the top-quality materials from which they are made, their accurate design (customised to suit each model of van), and important details like stainless-steel anchor ring cups and protective edge profiles to stop liquids from penetrating under the walkable floor surface.

The Ducato’s excellent work area

The left of this Fiat Ducato for the roadside assistance of HGVs is laid out as a workshop area, comprising:

  • a marble-look plywood work bench, with a raised rear edge to stop things falling down behind it
  • a tool rack panel directly over the bench, for carrying all the small tools necessary for repair, assembly and adjustment work
  • an LED tube light under the full-length top tray, for illuminating the work area
  • a set of eight metal drawers for storing tools and small parts
  • a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door
  • two easy-to-access configurable shelves

Equipment and accessories for making the Ducato fully autonomous

Having the right spare parts is not always enough to service or repair an HGV. Very often, you need a source of energy to power tools and machinery. And if those tools are pneumatic, you’ll need a compressed air supply too!

A super-efficient solution has been adopted in this Ducato L2 H2. A compressor-generator combo with a supplementary compressed air tank has been installed. This essential equipment is located near the bulkhead and is connected to an inverter concealed in the floor-level compartment, an air hose reel on the bulkhead, and a multi-socket over the work bench.

The right of the Ducato: clean, orderly storage

Complementing the workshop area on the left, a storage area has been installed on the right of this Fiat Ducato L2 H2.

Syncro System has made use of every inch of space, both in height and width, installing a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door, five jerry cans, two drawers and three case trays, a shelf and MultiBox cabinets with 15 tilting and pull-out transparent containers made from ultra-strong plastic.

A fold-away vice bench with a telescopic support extends out through the rear doors. This item of equipment provides essential support for working on the move. When folded away it occupies very little space, but once opened it forms a shock-resistant worktop complete with a metal vice for clamping the parts that require work.

Also on this side of the van, between the floor-level compartment and the shelf, is a sealed tank made from stainless steel, with raised sides and a grille in the bottom for supporting jerry cans. A hook and strap lashing system has also been fitted to this compartment for securing the jerry cans and preventing accidental spillages over the racking or floor. The tank can easily be unscrewed and removed for regular cleaning.

How many accessories do you need to work efficiently?

There is no right answer. It all depends! Mainly on the type of work you do and on how you organise it. This particular Fiat Ducato L2 H2 is equipped with:

  • a handwash kit with tank and tap, a soap dispenser and a paper roll holder – essential accessories for cleaning hands, tools and equipment away from base
  • three LED tube lights under the roof and one under the top tray over the work bench on the left; these modern LED lights provide excellent illumination throughout the cargo compartment while consuming very little energy
  • cargo retaining accessories at various strategic points, including a hook and strap lashing system combined with a small shelf, a multi-purpose metal pocket, a Syncroblock bar with attachments and lashing straps, two metal hooks and a hose reel
  • a slide that extends through the side door for carrying the customer’s own equipment.

After the purchase of your van, the most important step is to fit it out properly. Think about it in time!
