Renovation is a complex job. It demands the removal of old fittings and the installation of new ones, the redesign of rooms and the restoration of functionality.

Every renovator knows that the success of a job is decided even before they enter the building... the moment they open their van doors, to be precise.

If the vehicle is well organised, with tools, equipment, parts and spares all readily to hand, you can start the job confidently, because everything will go smoothly.

But if chaos reigns inside, work is certain to progress slowly, with time wasted and patience lost.

A Syncro racking system transforms your van into a mobile workshop in which everything is in place and you can focus your energy exclusively on the work to be done.

Today’s van: a Fiat Ducato for renovating bathrooms

The vehicle we are describing today is a model year 2006 Fiat Ducato L2 H1 owned by a plumbing firm. The van is used specifically for the renovation of bathrooms.

This project was completed in three phases. In the first, a complete set of liners was installed to protect the most exposed surfaces; in the second, racking was installed on both sides of the van; in the third, accessories were added to meet the needs of the customer.

Phase one: liners for the Ducato

As in construction work, van transformations need to start with solid foundations. In our line of work this means fitting liners to the interior of the cargo compartment to protect it against impacts, scratches, dents and spillages.

The Fiat Ducato on this page is fitted with a marble-look plywood floor liner with stainless-steel profiles covering all exposed edges. The bulkhead is covered with panels of the same material.

The customer chose to line the doors and walls with galvanized and painted panelling.

Phase two: using space effectively to ensure order

Order has to be maintained if you are to work inside your van in a professional manner. In this Fiat Ducato for bathroom renovation, every item of racking is placed in such a way as to meet this goal!

Left side

The floor area is divided into two compartments. The first is partially enclosed by a patented lift-and-rotate door while the second is equipped with a strap-type case transport kit.

Further up are a pull-out case tray with two Galaxy transparent cases, four metal drawers and four shelves, all with anti-slip mats and internal space dividers, and finally a shelf with a top-pivot door and a full-length top tray with a door at the rear, for carrying long objects.

Right side

Space here is limited by the presence of the side door. The compartment at floor level is partly enclosed by a lift-and-rotate door. Above it are two open shelves carrying eight removable plastic containers and three configurable shelves.

Accessories? Essential for getting maximum functionality from your van!

The Syncro catalogue offers a huge range of accessories, so by carefully choosing what suits your daily requirements, you really can maximize your van’s functionality.

This Ducato is equipped as follows.

On the left we have a spray can rack, a silicone cartridge rack and a paper roll holder.

On the right we have a multi-purpose storage pocket, a second spray can rack, and a three-compartment bar rack with a metal flange and lashing strap.

Under the roof is an energy-saving LED tube light.

The Ducato’s bulkhead: ideal for safe, accessible cargo transport

Never underestimate the area near the bulkhead. It provides strategic floor space for anybody who uses their van for work on a daily basis. This area is accessible both from the rear doors and from the side door and can be used quickly and easily for loading, carrying and unloading even bulky equipment.

The greatest attention must always be paid to safety, however. Cargo placed here must not move in any direction, even in the event of sudden braking, steering, or even a collision.

This is where Syncro’s cargo lashing accessories come into play. As in many other vans, two Syncroblock slider bars with hooks and straps have been installed on the bulkhead of this Ducato.

Depending on the size and shape of the cargo, both can be used together or the most effective one used alone. The adjustable straps let you apply the right pressure to all kinds of material and secure even oddly shaped or particularly large items, avoiding damage to the cargo and to the van.
