Maintenance services always need to carry everything with them. They simply can’t afford to return to the warehouse if something is missing, wasting valuable time and delaying the completion of work!
The van we are looking at today is a Fiat Ducato L2 H2 that Syncro transformed for a company that maintains gas distribution networks.
The vehicle was carefully lined and then equipped with racking on both sides and accessories on the doors and bulkhead.

When you talk to Syncro about a racking project for your van, you will be offered a choice of interior liners.
Lining the cargo compartment is the first stage in any racking installation. Only by fitting robust panelling can the walls, doors and floor of your van be protected against the sort of damage caused by daily use and falling cargo.
This maintenance company’s Fiat Ducato has been equipped with a floor liner made from marble-look plywood, with protective metal profiles at all exposed edges and stainless-steel cups for the original anchor rings. The bulkhead is protected by panels of aluminium chequer plate while the walls and doors are completely covered with custom made steel panelling. The top of the right-hand rear door has been fitted with a perforated lining panel that is ideal for accommodating plastic hooks.
The racking on the left of this Fiat Ducato for gas network maintenance consists of:
Note the “rain-proof” location of the paper roll holder, which is mounted on the side of the racking instead of on the door along with the other cleaning accessories – a handwash kit with tank and tap and a liquid soap dispenser.
On the right of this Fiat Ducato we can see:
The equipment that ensures operational autonomy is installed on the forward-facing side panel of this racking column. Syncro has fixed an inverter to the top of the wheel arch to power the small compressor that supplies compressed air to the hose reel. A cable holder has been added at the top.
As is often the case, the bulkhead of this Fiat Ducato is considered the ideal place for securing loads and equipment that are awkward in size or have to be moved frequently.
This is also why aluminium chequer plate – a material that offers excellent impact and wear resistance – was chosen as the best liner material. The bulkhead liner is equipped with two sections of ROTM rail combined with heavy-duty lashing straps with a breaking strain of up to 4,000 kg. A cable holder is installed at the top of the bulkhead.
Working on a gas network obviously entails a high risk of fire and explosion. Luckily, it is easy to prevent damage to the van if gas cylinders or materials that could generate potentially toxic fumes have to be carried inside.
All you need to do is to install a couple of ventilation grilles inside the cargo compartment – in this case one in the floor and one in the sliding side door – to allow air to circulate effectively while the vehicle is moving. This simple expedient avoids dangerous accumulations of fumes and potentially disastrous consequences.
Syncro also offers more advanced ventilation solutions in the form of powered and wind-driven extractors for installation in the roof.
