A complete Syncro System racking solution in an electrician's Ford Transit
The Ford Transit seen in these photos came to Syncro System from a business that installs and services civil and industrial electrical systems. The van is an L3 H2 model, with plenty of room for racking in height and length. The customer, however, asked us to confine all the racking to just one wall in order to maintain maximum flexibility and have plenty of room for carrying bulky materials and equipment. Let’s take a closer look, starting with the essential bodywork protection.
Customised protection for the Transit: only where you need it
Protecting the thin sheet metal body panels vans are made from is essential to avoid the high costs of repairing dents, scratches and holes and preventing the onset of rust, which can cause severe structural damage as well as reducing the value of the vehicle.
The electrician’s Ford Transit described here was fitted with a birch plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface and custom-made, painted steel panels for the walls and doors. Syncro liners and panels are pre-shaped and pre-drilled at Syncro’s Cassola works and are precision made to fit the bodywork of the individual model of van, ensuring perfect protection of the areas concerned.
The left wall of the Transit: work area and storage, all in one
The work and storage areas are both arranged along the Transit’s left wall, of which every last inch has been used. The racking, however, is divided lengthwise into two separate areas.
- The work area is located near the van’s rear doors and consists of a floor-level compartment with a door, four metal drawers and a marble-look plywood work surface. A pull-out vice bench is installed between the floor-level compartment and the drawers.
- The remainder of the wall is dedicated to the storage of equipment, tools, spares and small parts. Space is provided by four single case trays with Syncro’s patented, automatic latch mechanism, two small metal drawers mounted on ball-bearing runners, three large configurable shelves and a fourth smaller one, Multibox cabinets with eight pull-out transparent containers, a full-length top tray with a fold-down door at the rear, and a case transport system in the floor-level compartment, comprising a section of slider bar, an end plate for supporting the cases and a hook and strap system with locking knob that can be adjusted to secure any number of cases.
Using Syncro accessories to optimise space in your Transit
In this Transit, accessories play a key role in adding functionality without limiting available space. The van is fitted with:
- Cleaning accessories: We have a handwash kit comprising a holder, water tank and tap on the left rear door, along with a liquid soap dispenser also with dedicated holder, and a paper roll holder on the rear-facing side of the racking.
- Lighting accessories: Bad weather and difficult logistics can often lead to insufficient light in the back of your van. To remedy this problem, the Transit seen here is fitted with two LED lights under the roof.
- Cargo retaining accessories: The right wall of this Transit has been left free. The only addition is a section of Syncroblock bar with movable, telescopic hooks. Syncroblock bar is an exclusive Syncro System product that can be used with a whole range of cargo retaining accessories to satisfy all kinds of needs. Two more lengths of the same kind of bar are installed on the van’s bulkhead. The top section is equipped with two cable holders, the bottom section with hook and strap lashing systems.
