Anybody who works directly with end customers knows how important it is to be professional and willing to solve problems and satisfy requests.
One of Syncro System’s key strengths is its extensive network of racking centres. And Syncro technicians are all trained in-house to design and install racking systems that provide personalised solutions and satisfy over 99% of customers.
To give you an idea of the infinite number of solutions that can be achieved with Syncro’s modular racking, today we are comparing two systems designed for customers who work in the same sector.
Van no.1 in these photos is a Fiat Ducato L3 H2 owned by a regional multi-utility company. The vehicle is destined for use by the road maintenance department.
Van no.2 is a Ford Transit L2 H2 owned by another multi-utility company that serves a mountainous area. The van is equipped to perform general repairs, installation and maintenance work on the company’s infrastructure.
All three internal walls have been equipped in both cases, with combinations of racking and accessories chosen to meet the needs expressed at the consultation stage.
It’s difficult for racking to be strong if it is not fixed to equally robust liners. To enable your van to withstand the stress of working on the move, it really is essential to protect its interior. How to do so, however, is up to you…
Ducato L3 H2: the predominant lining material in this van is aluminium tread plate. The floor liner, wheel arch covers and bulkhead liner are all made from it. The walls are covered with honeycomb polypropylene panels, while steel panels have been chosen for the rear and side doors. The overall effect is one of light, order and cleanliness. Fitting liners has long-term consequences too: the van’s bodywork remains damage-free, keeping resale value high and eliminating unnecessary body repair costs.
Transit L2 H2: A simpler set of liners has been installed in this van. The floor is protected by a marble-look plywood liner with steel edge protectors while the walls are protected by painted steel panels. Only the upper sections of the doors have had liners fitted.
What’s the best way to organise space in your van? With Syncro, the possibilities are endless, but the final decision is always based on the needs of your job, the space available, and how frequently the different racking elements will be used.
Let’s compare how the left walls of the multi-utility companies’ Ducato and Transit have been arranged.
Ducato L3 H2: The configuration starts with two floor-level compartments bordered at the front by steel profiles; further up are four configurable shelves with raised rear panels and non-slip mats, two metal drawers and, at the top, two shelves arranged side by side shelves and enclosed by lift-up doors. The highest level is occupied by a 2025 model full-length top tray, with a fold-down access door at the rear.
Transit L2 H2: The left of this van offers a large number of containers. At the bottom are two floor-level compartments, one partly enclosed by a patented lift-and-rotate door, the other equipped with a universal shuttle-type case transport kit. Adjacent to the bulkhead is a secure, double-door locker. Three shelves are arranged one above the other in the central section, while almost all the remaining space – except for the full-length top tray – is occupied by specially shaped shelves carrying a total of 32 removable containers for small parts and spares.
The customer requested a special arrangement for the central corridor of the Ducato L3 H2. The forward section of this area is occupied by a large, custom-made box, positioned across the floor and supported by an aluminium frame. The box is intended to carry bags of cement. The box can be accessed from the sliding door and is held in place by a Syncroblock bar with a lashing strap.
This solution is complemented by a removable tray, located on the floor behind it with its open side facing the rear doors.
Ducato L3 H2: the racking on the right wall partly mirrors that on the left. The main difference is that the shelves are all open on this side and that a compressor is installed in the forward floor-level compartment. The top of the column is quite different and features a shelf with a special frame for an Ecoflow power station and a cabinet of pull-out transparent containers.
Transit L2 H2: the racking on the right of this van is relatively simple, consisting only of a floor-level compartment with a lift-and-rotate door and a series of six shelves. Practical accessory: a fold-away bench with vice and built-in support has been fixed to the racking’s rear-facing side panel.
The bulkhead is often left clear as the perfect place to carry bulky items. Cargo and equipment can be loaded through the side door, leaving the corridor in the centre of the van free.
The bulkheads are used in original ways in both the vans seen on this page.
Ducato L3 H2. The bulkhead area in this vehicle was expressly designed at the request of the customer, who needed a space to carry road signs. The equipment consists of a table covered in marble-look plywood, with an aluminium frame and a raised front edge. The road signs are held in place on the table by a lashing strap attached to a Syncroblock rail on the bulkhead.
Transit L2 H2. In this case, the design of the bulkhead area was determined by the need to carry and have easy access a generator. The equipment in question is mounted on a pull-out slide and held in place by a support fixed to the bulkhead and equipped with a Syncroblock bar and lashing strap.
The Syncro catalogue always has the right accessory for your needs. And you can always add accessories at a later date, after your racking has been installed! The two vehicles for multi-utility companies seen here both contain a good selection of accessories. Here is a brief overview.
Ducato L3 H2. On the left: a bar rack with lashing strap on the floor near the rear doors, fitted thanks to a custom modification to the racking side panel; a fire extinguisher bracket; and a paper roll holder with rain cover on the door. On the right: at floor level, a square tray for shovels, coupled with a Syncroblock bar and lashing strap on the side of the racking; a bar rack with strap on the wall; hooks on the side panel; and a Syncroblock bar with coat hooks on the door. On the side panel of the right-side racking facing the bulkhead: a reel for compressed air hose, a handwash kit and a soap dispenser. Under the roof: an LED spotlight for illuminating the access area, fixed to the cross-member over the rear doors; LED tube lights and a ladder rack with lashing straps.
Transit L2 H2. On the left: essential accessories for cleaning tools and hands, comprising a handwash kit and soap dispenser on the door and a paper roll holder on the racking side panel. On the right: an adjustable bracket fixed to Airline rails on the door, used to carry a telescopic ladder. At the top of the bulkhead: an inverter and multi-socket connected to the vehicle’s battery.
