A Ducato for servicing farm machinery

The firm that commissioned this Ducato racking system is a mechanical workshop that services and repairs farm machinery. This kind of work nearly always involves a farm visit. Most servicing and repairs are therefore done at quite some distance from the firm’s home workshop. Clearly, what is needed is a large van with enough room to carry bulky spares and equipment and with plenty of containers for small spares and fasteners.

If the racking seen in these photos interests you, read on for more details. If you want to see other mobile workshops for mechanics, take a look here:
  • A Sprinter for agricultural mechanics, complete with work bench and compressor-generator combo
  • A Doblò for servicing farm machinery, with transparent containers and cleaning accessories
  • A mobile workshop in an Iveco Daily, a large van with everything you need to repair agricultural machines away from base
  • The Ducato’s interior liners

This Fiat Ducato features a complete Syncro van lining system. This solution was chosen to extend the life of the vehicle by protecting it against damp and otherwise inevitable dents and scratches. The floor is covered with a birch plywood liner with a marble-look resin surface. A total of nine plies of birch veneer makes this material extremely resistant to wear and damage by industrial footwear and heavy loads being dragged around. The van’s walls and doors are protected with painted steel panels while the bulkhead is covered in aluminium chequer plate.

The left and right walls: almost identical configurations

The Syncro team discuss and agree all van racking solutions with you at the consulting stage to ensure that your professional needs are fully satisfied. In the case of this Ducato, the decision was taken to install two almost identical racking configurations on the walls, the main difference being in the presence of an extra section on the longer left wall where no allowance has to be made for a side door. On both sides we can see:
  • a floor-level compartment with a door over the wheel arch
  • a second, open compartment alongside
  • four metal drawers
  • six simple shelves
  • two Ultra open shelves, one with a lift-up door and the other with a lift-and-rotate door
  • In addition, on the left side we also have:
  • A floor-level compartment with a hook and strap retaining system
  • Another five simple shelves with non-slip mats
  • a full-length top tray
  • The bulkhead: secure transport for bulky loads

The bulkhead that separates the back of the van from the cab is equipped with two bars with straps and sliding fittings. These practical accessories allow equipment, spares and materials of all sizes to be secured safely and transported without sliding around or falling over.

    What about the accessories?

In addition to the racking itself, the Ducato seen here is equipped with LED ceiling lights that provide good, uniform lighting under all operating conditions. The racking on the right side is also fitted with a cast aluminium holder for extension cables and long sensor probes. The bulkhead and the racking side panels can be fitted with whatever other accessories the customer might need at any time in the future. It’s beautifully easy to install accessories on Syncro Ultra side panels. The evenly spaced holes allow items to be placed exactly where needed!
