A Ford Custom with Syncro equipment for an electrician

The van featured on this page is a Ford Custom L2H2, a high-roof model that boasts a tall cargo compartment with ample space for racking and accessories. This particular van is owned by an electrician. If you look carefully at the various sections of racking, you can easily see how Syncro has completely personalised the configuration to meet the customer’s needs, an achievement made possible not only by the amazingly flexible Ultra system but also by decades of experience in designing and installing racking on the basis of unique customer requests.

Left side racking: offset alignment

When installing racking, the Syncro team considers not just the specifications of the customer but the shape of the van too. In this model, though the walls are tall enough, they are not perfectly vertical but slope inwards towards the top. By selecting sections of different depth and by offsetting them at the rear, the front of the racking has been kept perfectly vertical and all available space has been fully exploited. The left wall of this Custom actually features four different dimensions of racking, gradually reducing in depth as we move upwards. Case trays and a case compartment: between them, these two options allow the customer to carry a large number of metal or plastic tool and component cases, even of different shapes and sizes, securely and in perfect order. Trays pull out to allow cases to be removed and replaced in dedicated spaces while case compartments allow a larger number of cases to be carried at floor level. Metal drawers and shelves: equipped with non-slip mats and internal partitions, these racking elements let you create a large number of separate compartments for carrying equipment, tools, spares and sundries. Tilting transparent containers: thanks to their limited depth, these containers are ideal for exploiting space at the top of the van. They let you see immediately what is inside too. Pull-out vice bench: installed inside the racking, this type of vice bench occupies very little space when not in use and forms a robust and practical work surface when extended.

Right side and bulkhead: slide-bar cargo retaining systems

All the racking as such in this electrician’s Custom is installed on the left side wall. The right side and the bulkhead have been reserved for compact but effective cargo retaining systems, all based on Syncro’s aluminium slide bars, and all fixed directly to the van’s body. Two bars are equipped with straps while a third is fitted with movable telescopic hooks. A key feature of the strap-type systems in this van is their “quick release” mechanism. This clever device does away with the need to thread and remove the strap every time a load is secured and released. As with so many Syncro Ultra features, this small but important detail saves you precious time that you can more profitably use working! Interested in other Custom racking systems?
