If you install and service heating and cooling systems, you need a medium-large van with enough space for a good stock of tools, equipment, spares and sundries and room left over for a work area. In this way you can undertake minor adjustments and repairs without having to return to base or use rickety tables on site. The photos on this page show a Volkswagen Crafter owned by a heating and cooling technician. The van is equipped with everything the customer needs to perform his work with maximum professionalism. Let’s look more closely at the racking configuration that Syncro System has provided to satisfy his needs.

Let’s start with the interior liners. The van is fitted with floor, wall and door liners to protect the original bodywork against damage and wear. The floor is protected by a marble-look plywood floor liner while the walls and doors are covered in full-height prepainted steel panels. To ensure enough light to work inside the van in comfort and safety, LED ceiling lights are fitted under the roof. Another LED lamp is installed over the workbench on the left side wall.

Along the Crafter’s left side wall is a well-proportioned workbench with a marble-look plywood top. Served by a paper roll holder and a number of metal drawers, the workbench occupies around half of the left side wall. The rest is equipped with enclosed shelves and shelves of plastic containers. At the top is a full-length tray with rear access for long items of cargo. At floor level are two compartments, one enclosed by a door and the other equipped to carry cases. Cases are extremely useful for carrying tools and components around on site and need to be catered for in any good racking system. To transport them from one site to the next, safely and in good order, Syncro has fitted this Crafter with a bar-and-strap system capable of holding a number of cases, even of different shape and size. The system boasts a quick and easy lock and release mechanism.

The van’s right side wall provides plenty of storage in the form of: 

• metal drawers
• case trays with metal cases
• shelves with doors
• an enclosed wheel-arch compartment
• two compact cabinets of tilting transparent plastic containers, one over the shelves, the other fixed to the front of the racking at the side door

The installation is completed by a number of indispensable accessories for the heating and aircon technician, including:

• a fold-away vice bench that is extremely easy to set up and occupies very little space when stowed away. When open, the bench is stabilised by a folding support. 
• compressor with hose reel. To ensure a constant supply of compressed air, the customer asked us to install a compact compressor on top of the shelving. Compressed air is available even outside the van thanks to an extendable hose and reel.
